I cannot get the remote to work for some reason. The up down left right and ok buttons work but nothing else, and I think thust emulate the keyboard by default. I know in mediaportal it works fine when defined as a mce remote. I have read what I can on here and it seems like girder or hid are the only options? Sure is nice to be able to use Media Portal when I feel like it and have it "steal" the entire remote including the green button, and then when I am done using media portal (DVB only) I can close it and open MCE for analog. This would not be an issue if I could find something that works correctly with dvb, and I can just expect to work. Anyways just trying to verify what is the best method to get the remote working.

you should only need hip/girder if you need to customize what each button does. have you tried setting the remote to 'mce remote' in GBPVRs config app?

Yes tried that but for some reason it still doesnt work. For instance while watching live tv if I push the guide button it opens MCE and goes to the guide there.

you mean the green button in the middle? erm...you may need HIP then to steal it before it gets to MCE....

slightly off to one side, why are you trying to use two different PVR progs? your reference to analog and digital in your origianl post sounds like you have analog tuner and a digi tuner and are using one pvr prog for each....did you know that you should be able to get them both working in tandem in GBPVR? or is there another reason for the mix-and-match approach?

oh yeah and another thing, i dont use MCE myself, but from what others have said, you need to kill four MCE processes that sit in the memory in order to fully close MCE. maybe doing this would release the green button to GBPVR control. i think they are called eh***.exe...

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right, I am using mce for my analog pvr150 card to record shows that I watch regularly. I use mediaportal and more recently gbpvr to watch digital tv via my ss2 card. The reason being is that the digital video looks much better than the analog obviously. I am having problems getting either mediaportal or gbpvr to run without issues. I would use one pvr setup with just dvb if it was stable enough. Hopefully gbpvr will be there soon.

I dont have this remote, so dont really know anything about, but going by other MCE remotes, I would have thought setting the remote type to 'MCE Remote' in the config app should get most buttons going (definitly all the numbers, up/down/left/right/ok, skip since these all use standard key mappings).

if you're having problems with both, maybe its closer to a tuner problem than a frontend problem? whats the model of the dvb card and does it work well with the software it came with?

OK so I ran msconfig and stopped mce from starting at all and the remote seems to work fine now. So this seems to be solved.
