I receive digital cable through a STB that outputs to my (32in LCD HD) TV via SCART as an RBG signal and it looks fine (as good as DVB-T). It's all 16:9. If I capture this with a SCART to s-video adapter with a Hauppauge PVR 150 into GB-PVR at 720x576 and stretch it to 16:9 will it look as good as the direct signal?

Basically, I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy a Hauppauge PVR 150. I'm sure some of you folks have done this already and I need to know if you're happy...

TIA

I do what you ask for (but through a pvr-350, and to a 40 inch HDTV), and I am happy. I also have a hauppauge usb2 dvb-t card, and well... you *can* see a difference between something that has been recorded over the STB and directly by my dvb-t card. But not so much so it disturbs me in any way.

Based on one user's experience... Wink

How do you connect your computer to your tv set? I have a DVI->DVI connection with a decent graphics card. That is also something to consider...

I use a DVI-D to HDMI connector, set the resolution to 1360x768 (native for the TV - took ages to find this out cos the LG instruction book is hopeless!) and the TX functions as a superb, crisp, bright monitor for the PC. The Graphics card is an MSI 1650pro with 2 DVI outputs and s-video/composite. GB-PVR looks very good on this setup, but has a very slight jerkiness in playback that's not present using the Freeview tuner in the telly.

I bought a Hauppauge HVR1300 yesterday and it captures from the ntl STB via composite but not s-video - I assume the STB has only RGB and composite. The hauppauge software works, but I've got problems with GB-PVR but I bet I'll sort it out this weekend Smile
