Just basically a n0ob question

Ok with me new TV Card (DVB-T) i got cyberlink PowerCinema, which works fine and picks up around 30 channels. Was wondering if this Program can record in Xvid, and not just MPG? (and why does it pick BBC3 up as CBBC Channel)

Also, why is it that MCE cannot pick up any channels, (or services as they call them) Even though PowerCinema can?

Have reset all the MCE settings, using a nice little tool, and started from scratch setting it up, but still MCE cannot pick up any channels for me

Help would be great thanks

GB-PVR just writes the info broadcast to disk, so you end up with whatever encoding the broadcaster uses (MPEG2 in this case). It does have some function to automatically convert that recording to xvid after the fact though.

I dont know, I've not seen any other reports of this. With the couple of channels that transmit part time in the UK, you probably need to do two channel scans, one during the day, one in the evening. It may be something to do with this that is causing the confusion.

Ok dvb-t in the uk is broadcasted as mpeg2 (well excluding the bbchd channel) so no you cannot record in Xvid, but gbpvr will allow you to re-encode to Xvid after the recording has taken place.
Secondly the reason for bbc3 show as cbbc is that they share the broadcast frquency, when the cbbc's finishes at 7 then bbc3 is then transmitted on that frequency. Also BBC4 and the CBeebies is the same.
I don't have MCE so cant help you there.

LoL looks like sub beat me to it.

CBBC and BBC3 are the same channel, will find one or the other depending on what time you do the scan, so do the scan after 7 or 8pm and it will pick it up as BBC3. You can't record in Xvid, but you can probably convert afterwards. GBPVR does a good job of doing that (can be set to convert at certain time - i.e. 3am when computer is not being used)

Is your card even supported by MCE?
