Hauppauge PVR2 Quality Settings...

I have had continual issue with the PVR2 USB2 and it's settings for A/V bitrate.

GB-PVR will under no circumstance actually affect the Quality...
I have tried numerous approaches, from editing the XML, to setting the
default, editing the Qualities via Config... etc... No matter the action I take,
The PVR2 USB2 utterly ignores the change in settings... grrr... Smile

Then while experimenting with VLC's ability to play from a capture device...
I discovered it's interface to the Hauppauge PVR2 USB2 settings...
And Finalllllllly I have some control over the actual device. Tho, to be honest,
The device defaults back to Constant 6000 after any reboot...

So basically before making a High Quality recording I hafta configure
the device with VLC, and for all the obvious reasons: I also have to reset it
back the lower Quality...

I have scripted some AutoIt functions... to deal with the issue.
And can manually schedule them in the Task Manager...
Not a perfect solution by any means...

So the Question is, does anyone else have similar issues with the PVR2?
I did do a search, but couldn't find anything relevant.. Which is likely
a critic on my choice of keywords... If it has been brought up before...
I apologize. And if it has been solved, I'd appreciate a nudge in the right
direction.

Thanks in Advance,

I had a similar situation I believe to yours about a year ago. The out of box settings for the PVR USB2 would recored at a very hight bit rate, and file sizes would be basically double from the PVR USB2 compared to a Hauppauge PVR-150. There were no settings in GB-PVR which would drop the bit rate.

I posted the question to the forums back then, but received no replies.
#1) Athalon XP 3200, WXP SP2, 2Gig RAM, Hauppauge MCE-150
#2) Celeron, @ 2.2 Ghz, Windows 2003 server SP1, 1Gig RAM, 2 x Hauppauge MCE-150s (running 24x7)
#3) PopCorn Hour.. I'm working on that one.

XBMC & 2 Hauppauge Media MVPs connecting to the server.. and a couple Terrabytes of kids shows.

Try editing the direct.ini file and setting INIT_MODE=IVAC for the PVR USB2 or PVR2 USB2 section.

No, it wont. It'll say INIT_MODE=IVAC in the next release.
