Here are my specs I would like any suggestions on what type of a remote systems I can set up to work with this so I don't have to keep getting up and changing it via the keyboard or mouse?

P4
512 ram
Nvidia GeForce 6200
Hauppauge PVR500

Not sure what else you would need but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks All

I suppose youve got a IR remote with your PVR500 so you can use this one with GBPVR. Its fully compatible with all functions. Just activate it in config/dvd&remote -> fix hauppauge remote settings

Just checked on their site and the PVR500 does not come with a remote. THey said their other remote would only work with cards that already support the remote that come with them.

I will have to look into other options. IF anyone else knows of a way or can give a little guidance would be wonderful.

Thanks All

Get an MCE compatible USB remote. Newegg or buy.com have them for about $30 last I looked. They're USB connected and so are independent of the TV card. They'll work with the GB-PVR built-ins or you can use HIP or Girder. Check the wiki for more info, pictures, etc. They do sometimes come bundled with the PVR500 cards. If you're not running XP Pro or MCE you'll probably need the drivers...again, check the wiki or search the forums for more info.

I bought a white box PVR500MCE that did not come with a remote. Later on I purchased an MCE remote from Hauppauge support (1-800 number). This included the USB beanbag, IR remote control, and a single IR blaster. Works great in my setup (meaning now GB-PVR can change channels on the external satellite TV receiver).

Somewhere buried in these forae are my posts describing the unit, model #, etc. If you search for "PVR500" "remote" "Braklet" you'll probably find them.

IIRC the unit cost me roughly $50 shipped.

I had to follow the HIP configuration instructions over on the GB-PVR Wiki to get it working, none of the internal support seems to work for me.

Another possibility to consider is a wireless keyboard/pointing combo device. I use a kb/joystick as my primary HTPC input. Works great. If it dies I'll buy one with a touchpad.

I still use my keyboard when the IR remote seems too limited, like when I want to page down through the EPG, not move one channel at a time.

Yes.

Here's what I bought a while back:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6880100851

About $44 shipped (I don't remember paying quite that much...I think I got it on sale).

It works fine with XP Pro and GB-PVR. It will also work with XP Home if you get the drivers (check the wiki). I've used it with both Pro and Home. I also have one that came bundled with my PVR500 card but it's another brand and does not work as well. Stick with the Microsoft one, it's worth the money. It's also an IR blaster if you need to control a set-top box.
