Here's the deal, I just bought a Hauppauge HVR1600 and installed it. Followed all the instructions contained within the box, then updated the drivers found on the website.

I have a coax cable connecting my Satellite Receiver to the back of the PVR card. I have the IR Blaster setting over the IR receiver of the satellite, testing this allows me to shut off and turn the receiver on through the IR Blaster Config...which should allow WinTV or GB-PVR to change channels on the receiver itself in order to record what I want, correct?

After installation I decided to try out WinTV2000 to see if everything is working properly, which is where I run into the problems.

I can be on channel 3 on WinTV...but my satellite stays on the same channel, let's say channel 123. So I try going to another channel through WinTV, but it stays the same.

I'm a complete n00b at this so please help if you can. Maybe I have my satellite hooked up wrong or something, I'm not sure. Can someone provide an image of how everything should be connected? I've followed the GB-PVR config guide in the Wiki after I had installed GB-PVR, but that's not helping either.

What's the use of having this set up if I still have to manually change my satellite channels to the correct channel in order to record?

When you're connected to a satellite receiver, then the satellite receiver is acting as the tuner, and output its current channel via svideo/composite/coax to the HVR1600 card. In this scenario, the HVR1600 card will only be able to record whatever channel the satellite receiver is tuned to.

For this type of setup, when you create your capture source you need to set it to use the 'fixed channel, external tuner' input, and set the constant channel 3 (assuming your set top box is using channel 3, and you're connected via coax).

Usually in this type of setup, users add an IR Blaster, which will enable GB-PVR to tell the satellite receiver to change channels automatically when required.

OK, I'll set it to "Fixed Channel, External Tuner" and set it to channel 3.

The problem I have though is that I already have an IR Blaster connected and set up, the one which came with the HVR1600, and it's not changing the channels.

Sorry - skim reading.

I've never actually seen one of these devices so I'm not sure what type of IR Blaster it comes with. Is it an external USB MCE type remote/blaster unit, or basically an LED on the end of a wire connected to the PC?

LED at the end of a wire. 2 wires branch off from the computer, one being the LED for the STB and the other being the IR for the Hauppauge 45 button remote. I know it's fully seated into the computer because I can turn the STB on and off through the IR Config and I can use the remote to browse GB-PVR, but other than that it doesn't want to do anything for me.

Have you run the Hauppauge BlastCFG software to select your set top box etc?

Yes, and it allows me to test it just perfectly. It shuts my set top box off or if I send a command through the BlastCFG to go to a channel it goes right to it, but it won't send the IR signals through GB-PVR.

I just tried to record MadTV when my satellite was on another channel, hoping that the program would send an IR signal to the satellite receiver to change to the correct channel but to no avail.

Running through the CFG it says:

"WinTV IR Blaster Source Channel
No WinTV Channels Found!!"

You need to set your GB-PVR capture source to use the '.exe channel changer' and point it c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\haupblast.exe

OK, that's done...but it's not changing the channel when browsing the TV guide and picking a random channel.

The only reason I bought the PVR with the IR Blaster was because I need to be able to change channels without having to manually do it to record...any other suggestions to get it working?
