My sysytem was working fine, the only change I made was shutting off file indexing on my hard drives to free up some ram, and maybe speed things up a little. Now I have no sound on either my live tv or recordings. Would turning off file indexing cause this problem? I've searched the forums with no avail, perhaps someone has an idea. Thanks in advance!

no that wouldn't do it... but 'muting your audio or turning the down the volume by accident would'

I checked the volume using the right arrow key, is there a mute key that i'm unaware of?

is there NO sound at all? play the video with VLC does it work?

Windows Sound Mixer (dbl click speaker icon in systray if its there) see if any volume sliders got knocked way down... or if the main one on the left is 'muted'

I just tried playing recorded file via windows media player, there is still no sound. I have sound playing video that wasn't captured by gbpvr.
Thanks for the fast responses!

I have sound if I play a file that was recorded through gbpvr before yesterday. It seems that I'm having a problem recording the audio, not playing it. Any suggestions?

none really.. but check your normal connections... verify you have sound going to your card.. and in the recording properties verify line in is selected.

some sound applications will change this setting...

I never found anything wrong so I rebooted. I now have sound with my live TV and I'm sure future recordings will work. Very strange though, the recordings from yesterday(before the reboot) still have no audio...
Hopefully this was a "freak thing" and I will nolonger encounter this odd issue.
Thanks for the help!

I had the same thing happening to me a few weeks ago. I noticed almost right away. I rebooted and everything is fine since then. Must have been a driver hiccup.
