Hey guys-

Has anyone had any luck finding an extension for the Hauppauge remote cable? Due to the IR Blaster, the thing has a 4-post jack design, which seems to be VERY unusual.

I tried to extend just the remote eye cable by splicing another cable into the middle of it. But the wire of the existing cable is so thing and brittle, it's very had to make the connection secure. It was working at first, but something must have giggled the wire and it now no longer works :/

If someone wanted to make some good side money, I bet there would be a nice demand for an extension cable for this.. Seeing as how they aren't available anywhere.

Do you need the extension for the IR blaster and remote recvr or just the remote recvr? My dad just needed for the receiver (uses the USBUIRT for sending) and hooked it up with a standard 2 or 3 post extension (I can find out for sure if you just need the IR receiver extended) It works for him. Let me know.

i was looking for one a week ago in NZ and couldnt find any - i was planing on slicing the cable then figured it would be easier to use a IR Extender that works via wireless signal - had no issues with it that way..

Thanks guys.

Well I only need to extend the IR receiver - BUT I use the IR Blaster too, so whatever cable I used to extend would need to work with both.

I got some butt connectors that I think will work much better than what I tried to do.. so I'm hoping to re-wire it again this weekend.

Hi. I'm looking to just extend the receiver. Do you know if it was a 2 or 3 post extension that he used?

Thanks!

I over a year ago spliced some speaker wire into the length and had no problems since. I made sure I didn't cross-over when doing so.

Hi guys, I just asked a similar question elsewhere, but I too am looking to extend that damn cable.

I forget, what is the difference between the IR Blaster and Recvr ends? I just use the remote that came with the PVR150 and aim it at the roundish IR recevr end I guess. Is the IR Blaster end the one that flashes and is used to relay signals on to another device? (sorry haven't dug into my instructions in a while, guess I'll go do that).

If that is the case, I do not need to use the IR Blaster function. Does that mean I do not need a full 4 conductor (4 post?) plug/extender cable? I think I can find 2.5mm with 2 or 3 conductors much easier.

Did I make any sense? :o
Thanks,

Brian

Yeah, if you don't need the IR Blaster, you should be able to use a normal 2 or 3 (not sure which) post cable.
