I have done some forum searching and it sounds like some have had success with streaming over wirelessG. I thought i would pose this question to hear how/if people have had success with streaming over wireless g. I would love to be able to stream livetv (HD OTA) to a laptop wirelessly so that the tuner did not have to travel around the house with the laptop (or should I say the wife would like it ). I have a server setup that has been doing a good job recording for me and streams recorded video fine to my client wirelessly, but not livetv. In streaming livetv I have tried the following muxes with these results:
Microsoft dvr-ms: used file sharing, got "ERROR: failure playing back file", sub think this might be a drm issue
Cyberlink: used streaming, very choppy
ATI MPEG mux: used streaming, choppy...this was my best result but still not watchable
Intervideo: I don't have this mux installed.
SS: used streaming, very very choppy, what is SS?
TS mux: installed the hdtvpump, used streaming, worked on a different client (wired) but not on my wireless client.
Transport Stream: used streaming, caused the client to hicup back to the main gbpvr screen
One other question...when i pause during the livetv stream, and then play again, i get a few seconds of clean playback and then the choppiness begins again. The short period of time does not seem to correlate to how long I have paused.
One other note...I have tried the EWA plugin, and though it is nice, I would prefer to stream without it (it appears like it is designed with the intention of streaming over internet and not high quality over ethernet) and hopefully get HD over wirelessG.
Any success stories would be great to hear with details on how you were successful.
