Timeshift, how does it work or what am i doing wrong?

after 4 days of hard work I finally have gbpvr running. But unfortunately I still face several problems. One of them concerns time shifting.

But first things first:
I'd like to say thanks to sub for sharing such an incredible nice work! Its good that there are people like you out there.

An now step by step. Starting with my timeshift issue:

When I am watching LiveTV (box preview is ticked) and hit the pause button gbpvr goes in the timeshift mode. The timeline appears and a file is created. But nothing more happens.

My question:
How can navigate in the file? Or do I have to wait till recording is finished. I thought there is kind of a navigation bare which allows me to start the recorded program.

Sorry for lack of knowledge and for doing something obviously wrong.

It would normally enter timeshift mode, with the video initially paused. Does pressing 'play' resume playback (Ctrl-P on keyboard)?

Once you have pressed pause and the buffer has been created press the play button on your remote or the key combo (I forget what it is but it might be ctrl+p).
Again to fast forward or rewind try or ctrl+f ctrl+r for skips or ctrl+-> (right arrow) or ctrl+<-(left arrow). If your using a hauppauge remote these buttons are << and >> and |< and >|.

wow, thanks for your quick response! Ctrl-k is the solution.

But I guess this was the easy one. As I mentioned I have some other problems.

My next one is as follows:

Live TV works great for all channel. Except for 2 channels (at least I am sure of this two channels). When I switch to them gbpvr crashes with a windows message (see screenshot - unfortunately this one is in German, but the error message itself is in English). Sometimes gbpvr is able to play 20 seconds till the error message occurs. Another time it takes up to 2 minutes.

Let me say that my technical knowledge is not quite good in this stuff by know cause I am totally new to this all. This is what I have find out by myself by now:

1.
The two channels are on the same frequency (466Mhz, 64QAM). On this frequency there are at least 10 channels located. I can reproduce the problem for only two of this channels (called Kabel1 and 9Live). By now I am not sure whether the other channels force gbpvr to crash as well.

2.
Another thing is, but I am not quite sure about this. Via Kabel1 the EPG signal is provided. I read this once on the internet. But as I said I am not sure whether is information is correct.

3.
And finally this. When I installed gbpvr I was not able to scan channels. Gbpvr crashed during the scanning. I followed then the instruction here (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=dvb-c+epg) and created my one ini-file. Since then scanning works fine. I attached the ini file as well.

Maybe this information can help you helping me. :-)

My settings:
Windows XP SP2,
Intel Pentium M 1.5 Ghz
Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVB-C (Driver 4.8.0.17)
gbpvr: v0.99.5

The screenshot identifies the crash as occurring in psisdecd.dll, which is the Microsoft PSI Parser. I am aware of some patches microsoft have released which update this file to work around problems some people have had in some parts of the world.

thanks a 1000 times! The hotfix solved it.

Now I want to stream Live TV. And have some more problems here.

But by now I don't have read all the posts in the forums which might help here. So I will try and do some tests and hope I can fix it on my own. Just wanted to say thanks at this time.

P.S.: Just to let you know my problem:

I want to do streaming. I receive the stream but the picture and sound is choppy. After changing the channel two or three times the client hangs up (picture freezes and I have to kill gbpvr on the client manually).

I installed the Cyberlink multiplexer on the server. But have not installed some other multiplexer. I am doing this right now...
On the client side Intervideo decoder will be used. Both PCs are wired via a 100Mbit hub.

In case you think this can not be a codec problem I added the logs of the client.

Sorry to bother you again, but I am nearly there. I spent so much time on it that it is too late to give up. Besides the software is such an incredible tool that I must have it!!!

I did some reading in the forum and tried this and that but Live TV on the client is still choppy. The first 30 seconds up to 2 minutes are fine. Then it starts getting choppy more and more. I found out the more “action” is in the picture the sooner the thing gets choppy.

What is working and what have I done so far:
(using Cyberlink multiplexer)

Live TV on Server: OK
Recording: OK
Stream recordings to client: OK
Set delay to 4000ms --> improved Live TV from getting the first 4-10 seconds in good quality to 30-120 seconds in good quality. Then – as said above – its getting choppy.

Installed Intervideo multiplexer: Much worse. Can't get any picture on the client (black screen) and gbpvr hangs up. Still can hear audio then.
Also the recordings are crap too. Can't even open them with VLC and Windows Media Player.

On the client side I used several mpeg decoders (Cyberlink and Intervideo and default) while using the Cyberlink multiplexer on the server. No change.

Checked installation of multiplexer with the checker tool: Both multiplexer are listed.

What else can I do? Help is really appreciated.

have you set the client up for network shares or for streaming?
I would try the network share and see if that helps. Should be able to keep up with the video better.

Tried that one too. But instead of having up to 2 minutes good quality it starts right from the beginning being choppy.

I read in the forum that reducing the quality of the stream is only possible with analog cards. Am I right on this. If not maybe this would be a possibility. But since it can't be a problem of bandwidth I guess this will not help either.

To narrow down the problem you should do two tests:
1) Try playback of a recording on the server. Does it play well? In such case the recording is ok. Otherwise something is wrong with either your capture card or your mux.
2) Try copying the recording (if test 1) went well ) to your client. Try playing back the copy. Does it play well? Then you have a network problem. If not, then you have a problem on the client itself.
