I'm trying to connect gbpvr to my home stereo system and need to control volume. I'm using the Hauppauge remote and the IR.exe that came with the tuner card. I'm using the IR receiver/blaster that came with the 150. My question is simple. What's the easiest way to send Vol up/down to the receiver? I seem to recall specifying an .exe and params in the irremote.ini but not sure if that's the best way to do this.

Also, winlirc isn't much of an option for me. I've tried to make it work before and had nothing but problems.

Many thanks.

I use a learning remote which is configured to have the volume buttons configured to my amp directly - no PC involved. (BTW folks, this is why we have piss-poor volume control in GB-PVR)

You might be able to jimmy up something like you suggest with the help of Girder or HIP. There is nothing built into GB-PVR which would help you do what you describe - it'll only send channel numbers and 'enter' to the IR Blasters.

Personally I'm using a MX-850, but thats probably a bit over the top for most people. A lot of people use Harmony remotes etc. Even cheap JP1 remotes will do the job for you.

There's a fairly recent thread in the Hardware forum on universal remotes which might help. The top contenders are typically Harmony or Universal Remote Control (like sub's fancy-schmancy MX850 or my own simpler-and-cheaper-but-still-oh-so-wonderful RF20); most of them could replace your Hauppauge remote, receiver remote, and whatever else you can throw at them.

Radio Shack has a cheap $20 remote that I am using and it is awesome. It has learning (I programmed in the Hauppauge codes and the codes to my cheap fan that has a remote) and all sorts of cool features. It comes with more codes than any $20 universal remote that I have ever seen and if they don't have what you need you can download them onto there throught some sort of audio modem that is installed on it. I haven't used that, myself, but I hear that that feature is incredible to see in action. If you're wondering, it is one of the Radio Shack Kameleon remotes. I would recommend it to anyone. It also comes with Media Center codes on board.
