DVB-S Issues

I am unsure how to set up a dvb-s card in GBPVR.

I selected the card in the capture source setup, select Optus D1 (NZFTA).
I am not sure, maybe it's a problem with my LNB setup, but when I try to map channels, it says no channels found.

I jumped up on the roof, and the LNB on the sky dish says:
LO: 10.75 GHZ
11.7 - 12.75 / 12.25 - 12.75 GHz
950 - 2000 / 1500-2000 MHz

So, what would the settings be inside the BDA recording setup? (I assume LOF = 10750?)

You might need to update .\BDA\DVB-S\1602.ini to have the following:

[SATTYPE]
1=1602
2=Optus D1 (NZ FTA)
[DVB]
0=2
1=12483,H,22500,34
2=12456,H,22500,34

I tried this, and it still wont pick any channels up.

When I use the software included with the card, I can scan the 12483 freq and it picks up the channel names, but I cant view them still.

I'm not sure if I have everything set up correctly, should the default LNB settings work in this situation?

If I am able to get a channel list in the avermedia program., does that mean I am actually getting a signal to the sat card?

Yeah, it probably is something to do with this. I'm not the best at interpretting this LNB labels. Does the avermedia app show you its LNB settings? If so you should be able to use those in GB-PVR.

Is it possible to set it up so I only have to put one LO frequency into the setup?

I ran progDVB, and by picking an LNB type of "circular" with a single freq of 10750 it picked up all of the digital channels I was looking for.

If its a recent LNB it'll most likely be a universal type so you need 2 LO frequencies in GBPVR....frequency 1 = 9750 and f2 = 10600. That would also look to be the case with the 11.7 - 12.75 / 12.25 - 12.75 GHz description

Yeah, I thought as much - as it is a new LNB, and I am sure it's dual (it has 2 cones)

Does anyone know what I can use as the LNB setting in GBPVR, if using the "circular" LNB setting in progDVB of 10750 works correctly?
(and does anyone know how to decipher the label from the LNB - It's a sharp model, if thats any help)

If not, then I guess I'll just have a custom button to invoke progDVB & record on the correct channel when I want to record a FTA channel while watching something on the cable box. (ulgy, but workable)

I would like to sort this out so that all of FTA channels are still recorded through GBPVR and I dont have to muck about with opening them through the video library.

I was fairly sure 'circular' referred to a type polarisation. Here in NZ on ku-band we use either horizontal or vertical. I've typically only heard about circular in relation to c-band systems, so comment about those settings working in prog dvb are pretty confusing to me.

Have your tried LOF1: 10750, LOFSwitch: 11700, LOF2: 12750?

I just checked in myTheatre and they show the default Ku-Circular settings using LOF1: 10750, LOFSwitch: 0, LOF2: 10750, so probably worth trying those.

If it has 2 cones as you say , then it sounds like a monobloc; i.e. it is 2 lnbs in one housing designed to receieve 2 satellites 6 degrees (or sometimes 3 deg) apart and feed the signal down 1 cable. The satellite is selected by diseqc signal . Some monos have 1 lnb on the main axis of the dish; the other being offset. Other have both offset so that the dish need to be pointed between the 2 sats. Has the LNB been changed recently, and if so, have you checked the aim of the dish since changing the LNB?
