Sounds like a tuning issue. Can you zip and upload your logs?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Stemark, according to your hdhomerun_bda.log it is never showing a channel change request. It does show where it reports the signal lock and signal strength but never a channel change. Which version of the firmware/software are you using for the HDHomeRun?

Thanks for the Reply

Firmware:20070214beta2
Driver:hdhomerun_win32_20070211beta5.msi

I just posted in the Silicondust forums I have the same result with Mediaportal.
MP will only find the channel that is tuned to in HDHR config.

Are their other HRHR files somewhere that I'm not aware of?

regards

whurlston Wrote:First Part (install the drivers):

1) Install the latest HDHomeRun software and firmware:
http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2484

Use HDHomeRun Config (GUI) from the Start Menu to upgrade your HDHomeRun to the latest firmware.

Vista note: Put the MSI file on your desktop, open an admin shell and run the following command (adjust the filename accordingly):
Code:
msiexec /i "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\hdhomerun_win32_20070211beta5.msi"

2) Install the BDA drivers:

Run HDHomeRun Manager from the Start Menu.

It will show the HDHomeRun icon in the notification area - double click to open and then click "Install All" to install BDA drivers.

If the "Install All" button is grayed out then all HDHomeRun tuners found on the network have already been installed.

Right click each tuner listed to make sure they are installed.

Second part (configure GB-PVR):

1. Download the attached zip and extract the bda.ini to your GB-PVR directory OR add the following lines to your bda.ini in your GB-PVR directory. (the default is “C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr”):

Code:
[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

Edit the bda.ini and replace "XXXXXXXX" with the 8-digit device ID from the back of the HDHomeRun.

2. Start the GB-PVR Config and click the "Capture Sources" tab.

3. Add a Capture Source.

4. Select "BDA Recording Source" and click the “Settings” button for the recording source.

5. Select “Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-0” from the Device Type dropdown list and click the “OK” button.

6. Select and configure the EPG of your choice.

7. Click the “Update EPG” button.

8. Click the “OK” button on the message box that pops up asking you to save the capture source.

9. Once the EPG is updated click the “Map digital channels to EPG channels” button.

10. Once the scan is complete, click the “Tuning Request” column for each channel you wish to map and select the appropriate scan result from the dropdown list. Disable any channels in the EPG that do not have a corresponding “Tuning Request”.

Hint: You can click on an entry below the preview window to watch that channel to help you identify it.

11. When all channels are mapped, click the “OK” button.

12. Repeat steps 3-11 but select “Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner XXXXXXXX-1” for step 5.

13. Click “OK” to exit the Recording Source Configuration and again to exit GB-PVR Config.

14. Start GB-PVR.

I get this far...

BUT

WHERE does one select which TUNER is in use in GB-PVR?
I get to MAIN menu screen, select a show from TV GUIDE, and am offered "WATCH" or "RECORD" option.
Forgive me if it's hidden in plain sight. . . I am visually impaired . . .
(Glaucoma).
If one wishes to record two shows at the same time, but on different channels, thus different tuners, what's the procedure?

You dont. You setup two capture source, one for each tuner, and the EPG set appropriately for the channels available on each tuner. GB-PVR will decide which tuner to use each time you schedule a recording or watch tv.

Just schedule two recordings and it'll take care of it for you automatically.

Oh!
That may cause a problem if one is not sure which tuner is being accessed, while watching "live" on another machine. Or is that incorrect?

In other words, HTPC #1 linked to tuner 0, and 1, is recording on ??? tuner.
So when HTPC #2 is watching live TV on tuner 0, there is a chance that the recorder will be interrupted or the watcher will be disconnected.

Hmmmm, that may need correcting.

Its not something I'll be changing in GB-PVR. Its working just the way I want it to. You'll just have to live within these requirements.

You can always just setup the one tuner in GB-PVR, leaving the other one for use from elsewhere.
