i am having the same exact problem. the sound is incredibly low even with the tv volume turned all the way up. what is wierd though is the music on DVD's plays OK, no great, but the voice track is very low. Any suggestions? i have tried all audio renderers and 2 or 3 different audio decoders, in the DVD & Remote tab.

what audio decoders are selected?

I suggest AC3Filter and selecting the boost DVD volume option when you install it, DVDs have an inherently low volume. using the audio decoder to adjust the volume should help

I too am experiencing this recently. It is not only DVDs, but with all AVI and MPG recordings stored. This has been something I noticed about a week ago, but am just now taking the time to look into it.

The music / background sounds are at normal volume however the primary voice track appears to be muted. The videos and DVDs play normally in Windows Media Player and Winamp. PowerDVD also plays normally. Live TV and the TV recordings however are completely unaffected.

I have toggled through all of the audio decoders and renderers on the playback tab with no change. I'm at a loss. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanx!

Yes, GB-PVRs internal volume as well as all other volume controls are max. I confirmed this, as in the same video, you can hear quite loudly explosions, screams etc, but the person talking in the foreground is silent. It is definately missing a channel.

what decoder are you using, is there a way that the center channel could have been turned down?

I made the change to the ac3filter and boosted the input and output volume to make DVD's louder. Worked great for DVDs, but my recordings were now too loud.
The trouble was I had the playback config of the audio renderer set to system default. The AC3filter ended up being added between my decoder and the sound output device. The volume on normal programs ended up too loud, and distorted. I set the audio renderer to default direct sound device and the AC3filter was no longer on the graph and it sounded fine again.
