Hmm, well I may have spoken too soon myself. I can change the channel fine when either just typing in channel numbers or scrolling through the guide and clicking to watch a program.
If I set GBPVR to record a program from the guide though it starts recording, but doesn't change the channel from whatever it was on before. I am thinking about buying a media center remote/blaster so I can quit using the hauppauge supplied one(and more importantly its software), since it never worked well even with WinTv.

Mine is card recognition but this is not my thread....was just replying to the last question. I have posted back and forth with Zaphod who Has done the same thing I'm trying to do, and I have gotten good info from Him. My card is intermittent I'll get the machine to recognize it then I shut it down to hook it up to my sat receiver then it stops< so i take it back to my computer work room uninstall and start over, get it going and then over, over , over. Hard to get the tv away from the wife to play with it out there. Maybe I'll have to run coax into the computer room and drag a sat IRD in there.

tigajoe Wrote:so i take it back to my computer work roomIt's probably the removal of the power cord that reinitializes the card. A weak antenna signal tends to cause a lot of problems. When the card starts up it does so on the last channel it was on, at least in the native Hauppauge application. In GB-PVR it starts with the lowest channel number in the list in configuration. Then it switches to the selected input or channel. I rearranged the channel numbers in "config" so that the lowest channel is one that I know has a good signal. If the lowest numbered channel was a marginal ATSC station, it could lock up the card at turn on. I'm guessing that there is a buffer somewhere that's not being flushed? I've noticed that some recordings start with a frame or two from previous usage. edit: I just decided to try TSReaderLite to examine some of the files that were recorded with no PAT packets. (Trying to determine if the card, drivers, signal strength, recording software, etc, were to blame) and discovered that a function of TSReader was to use the card for recording purposes (one minute limit on 'Lite version) and it seems to work every time to tune the channels. (had to restart GB-PVR's recording service after checking) I don't know if this means the card was working all along or if TSReaderLite reset or initialized the tuner (or if that statement has any real meaning).

That makes sense as when I had it lock up a few times the only way I could get total control of the PC back was to remove the power cable for a few minutes.

Had to put mine on hold, health issues! first a root canal followed by a stroke (2nd one) then when I got to feeling better a friend showed me a sling box so now I have that up and running ( gotta have more toys..lol), anyway any new developements on the 1600? Its gonna take me awhile to catch up on some of the new posts, I think it's been a week or so(with all my faculties working) since I've been here. sorry to hear about your PC Sub!

Ahhhh.....Slingbox. Believe it or not I was given one to test because of my involvment with JP1 remote controls. The controller chip allows the building of custom remote control codes so it can control devices that don't have built-in codes.
RE: 1600. I've installed the hcwSMD07.exe decoder (But not WinTv2k) and it allows my system to access the PureVideo hardware on my NVIDIA NX7600GS so that my other media players can play HD in software with half the CPU usage previously required (Sempron 3000+). I might actually have to try WinTv2k again....nah. |
