For others in your part of the world trying to do this same, what LNB settings did you end up with?

Sorry, mis-read your post.

Some apps like MyTheatre show all three values, so you may find that trying that gives you the info you need.

Success! (sorta)

Ok so my LNB settings are as follows:

LNB LOF1: 9750
LNB Switch: 11700
LNB LOF2: 11250

I was able to pickup a whack of channels however I'm not sure I'm getting them all. For example Discovery isn't listed as DISC which I believe is its handle. Not 100% sure so I still need to do some work on that side of things.

Secondary to all that I tried using Emunation as per a suggestion here somewhere but it didn't seem to work at all. GB definitely tried to use it but either I didn't have it installed correctly or it just plain old didn't work.

However once I got a working vPlug installed I was able to get a channel or two working for me. But then some weird stuff started happening.

1) Occasionally when I start GB now I get an error saying DVBCore.dll isn't found and I should re-install. The DVB side still works however so I'm not sure where that error is coming from.

2) I think the Nova-S-Plus doesn't have a CSA chip (might have that wrong...been doing a LOT of reading and retained only a small amount... Smile ) So I guess I'm using my CPU to decode the signal. Regardless the DVB side works for about 2 minutes then the CPU spikes to 100% and GB crashes.

So much more reading to do to understand the two problems above. I hope posting my LNB settings saves someone else a few hours of hunting though... Smile

I cant really help you with that one. I've never used Emunation myself.

I seem to remember reading a couple of comments about people needing specific versions of vplug, and the latest was causing problems for them?

The CSA stuff is done in software by ffdecsa.dll.

Hrm...wonder if that is the problem here...any idea what version was causing problems or what version they were looking to use? Where is this discussion happening? Smile

I can't really find a lot of info on CSA either. The version of vPlug I got has a number of CSA dlls including one called CSA_AMD.mdl...I'm wondering if that would help since this is an AMD box. Just not sure how to adjust the settings of which CSA file it is using....

doing all reading and no testing right now cause the wife took over the htpc... Smile

Will try that next time I have a window to play in... Smile

Are you sure your LNB settings are correct?

Try

LOF1 9750
SW 11300
LOF2 10600

I think the above are the commonest settings for Ku Band LNBs.

From what I have read that is common in the UK not NA. But I will give it a shot as I'm not convinced I have it right either. However the thread I posted in my last note uses the same as I have setup and Halcut is in Canada too from what I can gather.

I'd like to try to get more detail on CSA, and vPlug if anyone has any good resources. For example does the Nova-SPlus have a CSA chip or am I forced to use CPU. How do I setup vplug so it stops bitching about missing keys (since it seems to have the keys I need for the channels I want)?
