Hi,
I've got a big problem with cutting the mpg-files from GB-PVR (2313).

I can show the files on the GB-PVR-computer and on my notebook, but I can't cut it with

- Nero Vision Express
- Windows Movie Maker
- Ulead Moviemaker

Everytime I try to open such a file in one of these programs the programs crashes at the beginning or nearby 90% and I must kill them with the taskmanager.

Is something wrong with this files? How can I cut the mpg-files to delete commercials and burn it to DVD or (S)VCD?

I've never tried using any of the programs you have but have had great success with VideoRedo. Quick and way too simple.
But, maybe the problem is not with the software or the file and might be the system. I've seen systems that need to be defragged regularly or they lock up or blue screen when doing video work. Same as with spyware. Since it doesn't cost anything to clean up the system, give that a try and see if that helps.

I think I will give wimble mpegvcr a try. My Notebook has 512MB RAM and 16GB of free HD-Space. OS is WindowsXP Pro (german) with SP2.

For a free method, use rejig and cuttermaran. You need to demux you mpeg first (i like rejig for this) then you can load in the m2v and mpa into cuttermaran and cut on I-frames (cannot do frame accurate cutting yet). Cuttermaran will mux the video and audio into a DVD compliant stream (well as close as mplex can get).

The main problem with programs crashing it the mpeg file created from the hauppauge card is sometimes not 100% legal in the eyes os these softwares. Demuxing and remuxing may fix the problem, but i have not had any problems with the above method,

cheers,
Colin.

I've been using videoredo. I'm happy with it so far. Their development staff is working on commercial detection. I'm beta testing a version right now. It looks very promising. I've tried a few editing programs. Videoredo is very easy to use and very forgiving if you make an error. I might have my 13 year old do my video editing soon. (it's that easy to use) . Give it a free try, BUT ask for a 21 day trial key so that you aren't limited to 25 min clips. I registered mine after 12 days. GB-PVR is great, but a companion MPEG editor is a must if you plan on burning to dvd/cd. Do some research and try all the products that you can find that have a free trial period with them. Good luck!
