device#1 has the FM tuner, device#2 doesn't. I have only 4 analog stations so upto now i've not assigned any TV channels to device#1 and just use that for FM radio. Lo and behold, SHMBO wanted to record two of the four channels at the same time so i tried to get it that the two devices have the same four TV channels assigned, but i want it so that it will always use device#2 as its first choice, if its not being used, so that the FM radio will still be able to use device#1.

Can this be done?

If you look in at your cpature device list the way I understand is that recordings choose the capture device from the top and work down. Live Tv starts at the bottom and works up the list.
