I'm trying to install and run gbpvr on a win2k pc, but trying to start Config I get the following message:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Any ideas of what's wrong?

You may need to update you version of Windows Media Player.

I might be worth installing DirectX9 also. I dont personally test on Win2K, but I seem to remember some users have mentioned needing to do this to get it going.

I could never get it working on win2k, I tried it on 2 seperate pcs but other people never had such issues. I had the same error as you with all the updates .net 2, direct x 9 and MDAC. Luckily for me my work have off site license for all staff for microsoft products so I just upgraded to xp.

If you attempt to install or run with a missing component don't you need to copy empty.db3 over gbpvr.db3 after you install the missing pieces (mplayer9, .net2.0, mdac, dx9, etc)

I was curious about trying gbpvr on Windows 2000, too. I'll probably use XP with it but if you were going to install it on 2K, does it matter what Service Pack it is (I have 3 but I have SP4 available to me)?

I read the requirements for 2000 (for using/installing gbpvr) but how do you know whether you have those installed?

Is it much better using XP? I mean, there's less problems? I was just asking because I need another drive since I already have 2000 installed (with data) if I want to install gbpvr on a XP OS. I have a linux distro already on the drive with the 2000 partition but I think it would be better having my Windows pvr on XP on another drive. Wouldn't that be easier? I'm planning on buying a new drive as this one is 120GB but there is only 30 GB of free space available on the Windows partition. I thought a 500 GB drive might be good for storing recordings and drives of 120 GB or less can be had fairly cheaply (for a bootable OS to contain my pvr software program).

I've got GBPVR running on my Windows 2000 Professional system using a Emuzed Maui III-G capture card. Are you trying to use Win2K or Win2KPro?

I'm using win2k and it works fine. I'm using SP4, DX9.0c and Mdac 2.60.6526.3

Check Mdac in your registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer

Some of the newer capture cards don't really support win2k for drivers anymore, notably Hauppauge so that is a consideration depending on your setup.

I have been able to get vmr9 to work, but it's not very smooth on my system so I use vmr7 and that works fine. There was some question whether VMR7 or 9 could work with win2k at one point, but clearly it can.

I suspect if you have a winxp available it would be smoother and would give a better upgrade path for hardware but if you already have win2k give it a shot.
