Overall reven it works good, i like it alot, i use all the time, instead of the others, that way can play, preview thumb and describtion all in one screen. Besides if you have good thumbs, like most of mine, because i replace alot of jpg thumbs nails with better ones, they look really good with this preview look..Even better than the details because things are alot bigger. Great work! Again, and thanks for added this feature.

i wont add custom xml tags, the things are hardcoded in the display, like genre, title (not actually used), synopsis etc, adding custom things wont appear, so theres no point. and xml is just a temp thing, i am planning on doing a database, i just dont know a lot about databases myself (havent really covered them in uni), if anyone wants to help me out here it would be appreciated.

darrin75: the scroll at the end is designed this way, its the same as in "my pictures" i wont change it.

also i think evey video plugin should use the same database, theres no point have multiple databases with the same information.

ok i thought about it, im changing my wont to a will.

that means that up will take you to the menu, down will take you to the page up/down buttons (how it is now) but left when your on the parent (first item) this will take you to the last and not to the menu like it does now.

This is a huge problem with all the formats there are and everyone wants to have their own database etc etc. As a professional XML architect I believe strongly in using XML as the absolutely most transparant way to share information between applications.[/QUOTE]
for the seen part, do you want it to display in the filelist whether or not the file has been watched? like a green background for hasnt, a red for has?

thats sounds like a good idea, ill look into something like that, or perhaps just a green background for hasnt and plain for has. ill made them composite images so they will be configurable.

You, and/or others will regret that decision, trust me on this.

Without nowing the code behind the scenes, I imagine someone updates soem of the information feeds and suddenly you ends up with a plugin that can't provide the requested information due to lack of planning.

I have an idea of using and XML file for each movie (I count on that each film is located in it's own directory). This is where the core information for each film is stored.

Every plugin, movie manager, htpc creator can then choose wether they want to create there own database or if they simply can use the XML structure stored on disk.

I think it will be impossible to have all software vendors to use the same database, instead it's better to work on a simple but efficient way to share the data.

I'm more than willing to help you guys spec up these various solutions or atleast review and suggest whats coming up.

To start with, if of interest, we could use our own sub-forum.

i dont, i think u r wrong, all the external information will need to come from one place, imdb.com i dont want users to have to input data themselves, this is annoying, so i will only include data that can be grabbed from either the gbpvr database or imdb.com.
