On my laptop which has a very minimal 99.12 GBPVR setup, Visual Pinball which is a Direct Show application runs poorly when GBPVR is idle (no screensaver either) On VP I have problems with stuttering audio, and no keyboard input for a second or more at a time.
As soon as I turn off GBPVR, all problems go away and the game plays much smoother.
As a test I ran an MP3 playback WMP11 while VP was running - no degradation.
I also played an FLV video with WMP11 while VP was running. Some video stuttering but no lockups on the audio or inputs.
I removed all plugins from GBPVR/plugins - no change
I disabled all remaining builtin plugins - no change.
I've disabled all direct X acceleration - no change.
I've managed to find some tweaks to allow other apps to have more CPU access while VP is running and that makes it work much better but then of course the game slows down because of the tweak so it's not a desirable solution.
GBPVR when it's idling occasionally has about 10% CPU usage but these spikes don't seem to correspond to the lockups which are really frequent.
The suggestion at VP forum was to quit out of GBPVR. That's not in the cards since the idea is to eventually get it launched by GBPVR.
Seems to me that it is a Direct Show contention but I don't know how to resolve it
Anyone have any suggestions?
