I'm runing GBPVR 2313 on WinXP SP2 ENG , .Net Framework 1.1 SP1 with a PVR350 and the most current Hauppauge drivers on a Compaq 1GHz ENS. The GBPVR is configured to show the LiveTV on the Computer Screen (not TV-Out) in Windowed mode.

The Problem in short:
-I choose LiveTV and get a black Window but sound is on. When i drag the Window to a other position i get the TV Pictures.
-If there was an other programm in front of the GBPVR there is also no screen refresh after this Prog is moved away or minimized. Therefore the covered Area stays black.
-If i choose to have it full size i always get a black screen and found no way to have it painting the TV pictures on the Window.

Analysis (as far as i got)
-It seems to me as if DirectShow would not get the information that it's the top most window. This since it's not enough to just give it the Focus.

Any Idea and Help will be much appreciated - thanks in advance.

Brgds

Switch from VMR7 to Overlay.

if i do this the remote control will not work since it gets the commands just if the server (Black Window) has the focus. The black window has allways the same size as the second window showing the TV. Therefore i could have max half the screen for looking tv and still having the focus at the server part.
Not realy what i was looking for. But thanks for your answer.

I might add for information, that VMR9 does just give a popup-box with no text and a button with also no text.

What video decoder are you using? Try explicitly setting it to something other than 'System default' and see if it helps.

Thanks for replay sub. i've been away some days that caused the delay. i'm using the InterVideo NonCSS Video and Audio Decoder which is explicitly set under Playback / Software MPED 2 Playback. As i like to see the picture on the PC Screen i choose at Hardware Decoder Device "none - use software decoder". otherwise it would be shown at the tv with the pvr350.

I tryed the latest video driver for the intel 82815 and it changed the behavior to be constant no picture for VMR7 even i move the Window. It seems to me, some directx support problem of the grafic driver. to further investigate it would help to know what command is used to draw the picture. the checks done by dxdiag are all successfull thats why i guess it's the way the program writes it's info to the dx interface.

any idea to trace it further is welcome. in the meantime i'll organise some other grafics card.

Do you correctly get a picture when you switch to using Overlay instead of VMR7?

yes i get the picture when i switch from VMR to overlay, but as written above - i just can use part of the screen in overlay mode since the server part has to have the focus to react on remote control commands.

I'm not clearly picturing what you're trying to describe. Are you saying you have two windows, the original GB-PVR one, and popup window with the video? Possibly with the words 'Active Movie' in the title bar? There is only supposed to be one window at all times, but I have seen one popup (like what I think you're describing), when the video decoder is not compatible with the video renderer.

All I can really suggest is trying a different MPEG2 decoder, or video card if you have one available.

If you have FFDShow installed, uninstall it.

You could also try changing to 24bit/32bit color on your desktop if you're not already.

I know the onboard Intel video chipset on my compaq at work was very 'quirky'. It really would be worth while trying another video card if you have one available.

run dxdiag
look under tab for display
run the test
try disable some directx features
might help
