Ted the Penguin Wrote:its been a while since I have tried to play this game on a "TV" I have an HDTV now, so it makes settings a million times easier (VGA input!!!Big Grin)

Ted, I think I got it. I found the ATI "video mode" check box, but it was greyed out when I was in a higher resolution. But when I switched back to the lower resolution, I couldn't access the "apply" button. So I just closed out and it held (I think). Video looks better and completely fills my screen. It cuts off the gbpvr menu, but I see now that I can fix that by editing the config.xml file. Any text (like file manager in XP) looks much worse, but since I'm using TightVNC, it doesn't matter. The TV guide and the gbpvr menu has more flickering, but I assume that's typical for low res TVs when looking at fixed images and text, is that correct? Thanks for all of your help.

jim08127 Wrote:If you are going to do xml editing, get a tool for it like this free one from microsoft. Smile

you can't just add a setting at the end. Its like a database. Find where the setting currently is and then edit it as required.

Thanks jim08127. I downloaded XML Notepad. My problem is that the gbpvr menu is cut off on the edge. So I'm now in XML Notepad and I found OverScanBorderX1, OverScanBorderY1, OverScanBorderX2, and OverScanBorderY2 - all four are in the left column. In the right column, after each of the four, is "0". Do I just change those four zeros to "1", save the file, and overwrite the current file (after backing it up, of course)? Also, "OverScanVideoAlso" is now set to true. Do I leave it set to true? I prefer that nothing be cut off around the borders. Thanks.

You could set them to "1", but thats a pretty small border. You'll have to experiment to find the right values on your setup, but you could try starting them at 40 or something.

Always best to take a backup of config.xml before editing it.

We will have to wait for someone else to try and answer those questions. I am not using gbpvr directly connected to a tv and I don't want to lead you the wrong way...:o

Sub, do I leave "OverScanVideoAlso" set to true? I don't want video cut off either. So would changing "true" to "false" give videos the same border as the menu? Thanks.

On a normal TV you get part of the video cut off, so its not necessarily a bad thing.

If you have OverScanVideoAlso set to true, then it'll also obey any changes you make to these overscan settings.

I edited the config.xml file and it appears that everything is working great. I ended up using 40 on the right side of the screen and 20 on the other three. Now it looks perfect.

Thanks for all the help.

always glad to helpSmile

yeah, the flickering is typical of TVs, when using them for text. but as you said, it gives the best video quality... I am not suite sure of a way to fix the flicker in GB-PVR, but I am guessing that increasing the size of the text would help. some people who actually use an SDTV could probably give some tips

BTW, I love the avatar.... This is Bob, Bob uses enzyte and we will imply that this gives him a huge C0(|< throughout the commercial (please forgive the 1337 (leetspeak))

Ted, I wondered if anyone would notice that. Then I saw that many who post here aren't in the USA. I assume the rest of the world isn't subjected to the enzyte ads. So for those who haven't seen the enzyte ads, the avatar isn't my photo. It's a photo of "Bob" from the enzyte ads.
