Hi,
I recently installed the 9.0b quartz.dll after carefully reading this thread and following the instructions: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=5600 to try and see if it would solve some stuttering I had noticed with GB-PVR recordings. The computer was working fine AFTER I installed the quartz.dll, rebooted, watched and recorded some shows.
However, the morning after (Apr 3 or 4, I think), I noticed Windows update showed a critical update needed to be installed. I was debating whether the update notification may have been triggered due to the DirectX change, but the details on the update mentioned something about a critical security upgrade, so I went ahead and installed it.
After installing the update, I am unable to login to my computer. When I try starting windows normally, it gets stuck at the "Windows is Starting up" screen. In safe mode (without networking), when I enter login name and password, it gives me an error "system could not log you on now as the domain <PCNAME> is not available". It does not matter if I try to use my regular user account or Administrator account to login, it gives the same message. I also tried rebooting into the command prompt, but it prompts me for login/password and gives above error. Irrespective, I cannot login to the computer.
Not sure if this was caused by the DirectX quartz dll change or due to the update installed by Windows (or if the Windows update was triggered because it noticed the older version of DirectX change?) so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but hope someone more technically knowledgeable can suggest some options that can help me get past the above error. I can then try uninstalling the most recent hotfix and see if that fixes the issue. If that doesn't work, I'll try to undo the quartz dll patch.
Would appreciate any help or guidance to where I can find help on this.
My System specs: Athlon XP 2200+, 768MB RAM, 20GB HDD, AIW Radeon, Windows 2000 w/ SP4.
Thanks,
-Topper
