sub,

This has happened several times recently, nothing was recording, there was no LiveTV, I don't have PowerDVD installed, I have two tuners so I expected at least ONE of them to be available.

To make it work I restart the computer, that fixes it everytime, records OK, fins tuners. I think it started to happen after I installed a 2nd PVR-150.

The attached logs are from 8:30am today, but it happened about 7:45~8:30 last night, hopefully the logs will have enough info. When it is in this state it misses recordings too.

"Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted"
Do you think it would it help to make the above registry changes or try any of these ones?

The error above seems to be related to TCP/IP Port exhaustion if you have BizServer?

Not sure about these changes...

This "Only one usage of each socket..." message can happen after restarting the recording service if windows doesnt manage to release the socket. In this situation, you can wait a little while then try restarting the recording service, or reboot.

This is not the cause of your problem though, but rather something can go wrong after your try to solve your problem by restarting the recording service.

Do you rember the name of the recording that failed?

Thanks for having a look at this sub, much appreciated, I couldn't find any other person on this forum with the socket fault, so I do understand you not wanting to put a lot of effort in. Having said that the "Only one usage of each socket..." error is a problem all over the Net it seems....!!

"Heroes" was definitely one of them, 10:35pm start on Tuesday 16th IIRC. "Dog Soldiers" might have been another, but I'm not sure.

Unfortunately the logs dont cover up until that point. They only made it as far as 2007-10-16 21:23:13, which you had this problem restarting the recording service.

I couldnt see the other recording in the logs.

Hmm ... darn it. I really don't know what happened to the other logs, but I'll try and capture them if it happens again. Like I mentioned above, I thought I'd gone to bed. Any chance it tried to restart itself due to the error at 21:23:13, and that's why it failed ?

Yeah, the restart at 21:23:13 hung with this "Only one usage of each socket..." which is most likely the reason the recording didnt take place. If you hadnt restarted the recording service prior to that then recording would most likely have happened.

So, just try to avoid restarting the recording service unless there is actually a problem...

LOL Big Grin (no need to reply). The reason I actually restarted the recording service was because of the "No Tuners Available To Watch Selected Channel" errors I had been getting arrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh!! Full circle.

Cheers and thanks anyhow,

Do you have different channel lineups on your two capture sources? or any manually created channels?
