I'm running GBPVR 99.12, and using direct Zap2It EPG updates.

Zap2It recently had problems with their DataDirect feed not being up-to-date, with the result that many timeslots in my GBPVR TV Guide showed as "To Be Announced" even when the programming was shown in Zap2It's web listings.

Zap2It has been fixing at least some of these problems, but GBPVR doesn't (always?) seem to be updating its internal TV Guide to match. For example, for Apr 14, 9pm PDT, ch.19 Zap2It.xml has the correct programming:
Code:
<station id='10392'>
<callSign>KCTS</callSign>
<name>KCTS</name>
<fccChannelNumber>9</fccChannelNumber>
<affiliate>PBS Affiliate</affiliate>
</station>
...
<map station='10392' channel='19' from='2005-01-31'/>
...
<schedule program='SH8582680000' station='10392' time='2007-04-15T04:00:00Z' duration='PT02H00M' closeCaptioned='true'/>
...
<program id='SH8582680000'>
<title>Seattle Symphony From Benaroya Hall</title>
<description> ... </description>
<showType>Special</showType>
<series>SH858268</series>
<originalAirDate>2006-09-06</originalAirDate>
</program>
but my TV Guide still shows this slot as "To Be Announced".

How can I force GBPVR to update existing timeslots, without emptying my EPG data (and so losing all my scheduled recordings, according to the warning GBPVR gives)?

Thanks. I've attached my zipped logs dir, also including today's Zap2It.xml

Do you have 'complete EPG reload' enabled in the config app? The default is to have this enabled, which will cause it to empty the EPG entirely before loading the new EPG. This should get rid of any of those older 'To Be Announced' listings.

I recently disabled this, to be a "nicer" Zap2It user. However, I've tried a few times (and again just now) to enable it before doing an EPG update. When I enable this option I get a much larger Zap2It.xml file (so the option is taking effect), but my example timeslot continues to show as "To Be Announced".

I've tried updating using a) the GBPVR tray menu, b) the Slimm-GBPVR tray menu, and c) the Config app under Capture Sources|Edit|Update EPG. Each shows a slightly different dialog, but the problem remains with each.

I forgot to mention that I'm using EPGExtra, but I just tried commenting it out in the PostUpdateEPG.bat file and the problem remains.

Go into each of the capture sources listed in the config app and hit the 'empty EPG' button. After that, do an 'update epg' from the tray icon.

Thanks, that did solve the problem.

I was pleased to see that the Empty EPG warning about losing scheduled recordings was wrong -- my recordings weren't deleted. (I would have tried the Empty EPG earlier if I'd known that.)

Is this warning obsolete, or does it mean something else?

The warning only relates to one-off recordings. Season recordings will be recreated.

Is this something to be done generally, or just as a solution to JDW13's specific problem?

Thanks.

It just related to JDW13's problem.
