pastro Wrote:I downloaded the latest beta driver 25037 and they worked fine to enable ccindvd for my win2k box. All I had to do was use mpg2srt to extract the captions and enable the srt viewer and presto they appeared. Ctrl Y toggles then on and off. So far I haven't seen the rollup issue, but I'm sure it will crop up.
Can you tell us how you enabled ccindvd so anyone reading and not posting knows what to do? I think I could find it but I don't want others to have to search. For my PVR350 I used the tweaktool.

Can't speak for pastro but for me I didn't have to do any registry tweaking or anything. They were just there for mpg2srt to pull out.

Does anybody have admin rights for the Wiki? I just emailed blader asking for them. The Wiki should have a link to examples of roll-up and links to mpg2srt and notes to add mpg2srt %1 to postprocessing.bat and place mpgsrt.exe in the gbpvr directory if srt is desired. It should also have a note that the CC can be extracted to srt with mpg2srt on 150's , 500 and 250's without registry tricks. We should also note that srt is available on the MVP but CC is not. I just remembered this thread as I was writing this. So the roll-up CC is easier to read with those changes on the server, but I don't think the MVP can be set. I need to look up on that. My problem then was I didn't know I could toggle SRT. I had even stated it would be nice to be able to do. We also need the Yellow button and CTRL-Y notes for toggling SRT. Can anyone try toggling SRT on the MVP and let us know the results? I'm not at home right now.

Ccindvd was enabled by default. I installed the driver and used mpg2srt to extract the captions from the program stream. I turned on the srt viewer in the misc tab of config and it all worked. No registry hacks required.

cool, I figured but I wanted to make sure. Merrypig had stated no hacks or tweaking needed to be done. I wasn't sure what you meant about CCinDVD.

Closed captions are normally sent on line 21 in the vertical refresh interval. On a DVD there is no vertical refresh interval so the designers had to come up with a different way to mix the closed captions in with the data. That's called ccindvd format. The PVR150 puts the captions in the program stream just like a DVD does. They can also be pulled out using a line 21 decoder, but that's the other way to get closed captions.
I have a little problem with the captions in that the signal on a some of my channels is not as strong as others. The picture is a little grainy. On those channels the captioning is erratic. On the good channels it is fine. Looks like I need to work on that.

See this page:

I understood that the 150 does not receive CC data, and can't record it...

The latest drivers allow you to extract via mpg2srt, or from what I read, enable closed captions in the same way they were enabled for the 250 and 350.

My PVR150 absolutely receives them. If watch LiveTV in MCE or in GraphEdit the CC / DV (descriptive video) shows. But I can't see in in WinTV2k and I can't capture MPEG with DV period. I really want to get this going because mvpmc can definitely display subtitles in VOB files, so if they are inserted as subtitle stream types, displaying them on the MVP should be simple.

Do you have a driver that supports them?

Hauppuage states that closed captions doesn't work on their apps but they do with MCE.

I'm guessing you already did this, but here is a graph of the alternate way to get captions. I'm using vmr7, and the Nvidea video decoder.

On a file that was recorded before I changed drivers no captions appear. On one after the change, captions work. It would be great if sub could build this into the main app and mpg2srt wouldn't be needed or the vmr9.
