Two types of riders.

Those that have dropped their bikes...

And those that will....

I agree that wearing a helmet is a good idea but there is nothing like the feeling of driving a big bike on a nice day without one.

I used to ride my 1972 Honda 750 without a helmet from time to time. It's probably the closest a human can come to feeling like Superman.

A colleauge of mine was killed on Christmas day '93 on his bike (wearing a helmet). It kind of freaked me out and I have not ridden since.

I personally think that those that don't wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle are competing for the Darwin Awards.

i agree! i'd never ride my motorcycle without a proper helmet.

in switzerland two types of helmet are allowed... the 'normal' integral helmets and those usa-motorcycle-police-officer-helmets (don't know how to call them) are allowed.
altough the latter somehow seem to 'fit' more the style of my bike (yamaha 1100 xvs drag star classic), i would never wear a helmet like that (as i think it does not provide chin/face protection)

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Whenever I see a motorcylist flying down the road, no helmet on, cutting in and out of traffic, it never makes me mad, since I know he won't be around much longer. Cars and trucks are a different story.

about that nice weather... those really crappy storms the northeast had two weeks ago, caused lots of flooding, including my parents basement, I was home cleaning up all last week.

so you can attribute my absence from the forums as of late to:
finishing school (DONE with undergrad FOREVER)
weather (nice or otherwise)
and paper mario Big Grin

are you talking about brain buckets?

as far as I know there are 3 types of helmets, ones that cover your whole face, ones that cover your whole head except your face, and ones that just sit on top of your head like a kids bike helmet.

and wikipedia with more info ftw http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_helmet

personally, I think riding a motorcycle at all is dangerous enough, and whether or not you wear a helmet, you still will lose in any crash. But being a firefighter, I have a slightly different view of things like that, having seen what happens in collisions.

Tipstir please check your US abbreviations. MA is Massachusetts, they don't make pizza there. Before you guys start on the fact that I am in Texas, I used to live near Chicago. That's where you get the real heart stopping, artery clogging pizza.

LOL

I just put $120 worth of petrol (sorry gas!) in my car today. that's 66 litres.

"brain buckets" - LOL!

I know of a guy who had a bike accident whilst wearing an open face (no chin) helmet. His facial injuries were truly terrible and almost certainly could have been prevented if he was wearing a full face.

but then there are bikers who will swear that a FF restricts visibility greatly and increases the chances of a spill.

I wince every time I see a rider wearing a T-shirt and shorts (more in Europe that the UK). These people just aren't thinking ahead....

Come to South Carolina, where you can see people riding Harleys without helmets or shirts. Just shorts and - wait for it - flipflops.

Yes Boston sells pizza they have little ltaly also. I've been there just like to know from ted if he knew of any good spots to eat. Also Big Y which is HQ in MA also sells pizza the way I like it. Smile

um... pretty much anywhere in the north end is good to eat, the place I usually go for pizza is called "Trattoria II Panino Express" basically because it is quick and I like the pizza, I havnt been to many other places, so I cant give a great comparison. but they also have some great subs and other food. its at 266 Hanover St.

hope you find somewhere you like, sorry I cant give you a "OMG YOU NEED TO GO TO THIS PLACE" answer.
