i have gb-pvr installed on a p4 3.0ghz with 1gig of ram, winxp and with a hvr-1600.
the hvr-1600 was previously in my core duo 2 machine with vista 64.
when in my vista machine, using windows media center, the picture is much better when watching analog tv than when the hvr-1600 on my winxp machine. i read a bunch on this forum, and concluded it was either my directx version, or my mpeg codec causing the problem, so i did the quartz.dll swap on my direct x, no luck, then i tired different codecs, the powerdvd coded, the windvd coded, and the nvidia coded, the nvidia code being marginally better than the other two, but no where near as good as what my vista machine will do. the problem is espeically noticeable during hockey (it is playoffs after all!)
any ideas? is vista's mpeg coded just that much better? is it doing post processing to get the picture that good? is it something i could fix using ffdshow post processing?
