Well I know invoke the transcoder and then highlight the play button. But it does not seem to play until vlc finishes processing. I have also tried using Windows Media Player and winamp they also do not play it till it is done processing.

I have also tried using the skip forward skip back does not seem to work right. Skip back just restarts from the beggining. Maybe something is wrong with my divx video.

The time is also completely odd. Says my one hour show is 24 hours.

the reason it can not access it is because those programs do not know how too... if you had you used say . station or xmediaplayer, by sigma it could play it.. or built a graph based say on gb-pvr file reader .which know how to access it would work.. so I think gb-pvr would read it as it being written too

but you will see if you used another copy of vlc you could open the file too.. it just depends on if your program knows how to ( actually allowed to) look at files that are being written.

You are correct another instance of vlc can access this file.

However gbpvr should be able to read a file as it is being written too. That is how playing while recording works.

You can test this yourself if you have a divx file.

Take my command line and start converting your divx file then use the video plugin (built in one) and navigate to the mpg output and select it.)

since your getting buggy results try version 7.2.2 vlc it not as buggy as 8.1 can be..

okay I misunderstood your last post. I though you said you could not.. but I think buggy time line is just because the file is being encoded are the same time so it consantly changing and the program is guestimating incorrectly. I think maybe if you reselect the file once it is done. it might show the proper length.. I usualy see this problem to.. for FF and REW . but if you do a jump based on the time line it usually goes back to the begining. but if you base the jump on a byte location in the file it usually works..

just in case you do not get what I mean, say at the point of jump the file is 100 megs in size your default jump is 1meg ( could have algorithim that caclulates on the rate of play the actuall amout of bytes to jump). then just jump from the fix point from the beginning of the file.. based on your location in this file. then there is no need to worry about the time line it just bases the location on a more acturate system the actual byte location.. then it does not matter if the timeline is all fugde up.or your encoding and it constanly changing. it still going to work. because it based on a stable marker the beginning of the file which never moves

GBPVR is not guestimating incorrectly. Since I can not play the transient mpg until it is done. The time is messed up after it is finished.

I see the same.

All my plugin has a hook for is to playvideo(filename)

I can not start playing from an offset.

iirc add --quit to the command line to make sure all is gone

I am attaching the batch file.  It does not like the quit.  I call it passing in the full path and name of the avi to transcode.

If you want to try the batch open it up and remove --quit.

Once we get the box to go away or at least quit when finished we only have to figure out the following.
 - Why we can not play while transcoding
 - Why the time is messed up
 - Why we can not fast forward, rewind, or skip.  This might be related to the time.

if I start the samen commandl line here and write out to a file called vlc-transcode.mpg - go th gb-pvr startup my mvp and browse to the file it opens and starts to play?!

I don't know if th default PC based stuff works too - have indeed never tested this and MPEG2 PS is possibly indeed not common to be recognized by regular players since MPEG code is iirc copyrighted - so you probably would need a registrered player and/or codec (some DVD player software) to have a MPEG2 player codec on your system. As I say - on the MPVP it rocks!

I will send you my private xrecord. With the transcoding so you can play with it. I am doing my development at work so it is only PC based.

I have tried the Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder and InterVideo Decoder.

I will try it on my MVP and pray it works. When you hit the blue button does it show the duration correctly, it should be increasing as it transcodes.
