Controlling Directv box using girder- serial cable

I read someone was able to configure girder to control a Directv box using a serial cable. I need to know what plugins do I need. I have girder, the directv box with serial connection, and the serial cable. I read instructions for a Motorola box but I'm not sure if the files mentioned will work with mine.

there are many different tutorials out there about how to make the serial cable work, you might do a search on tivocommunity.com or someplace like that. I don't think that "hacking" talk would be allowed here.
