I dont really know much about the nvidia dualtv devices, but I'm guessing you've either got a broken driver install, or very different version of the drivers to what others have been using in the past, or its the older nvidia card? I dont know much about the nvidia cards, but I remember there was an older version that used different hardware.

Our Tivo stopped working (HD started clicking) and instead of sending it back for repair for $50, I decided to bmo for much, much more. All the equipment--DualTV, MediaMVP and wireless AP client--are new from pcAlchemy and NewEgg. I pulled all the drivers down from the web and even reinstalled my server in the basement for this PVR task.

This morning I did uninstall the nVidia drivers then used the CD to see if it would change the version. Part of the cd driver install went to the Internet and downloaded the latest versions from nVidia. So in the end the versions remained the same.

The video will play on the PC server but will not show on the MVP. The menus do display on the MVP btw. Does this help in any way? Sounds like I should focus on the driver install. What am I looking for in the logs to know I'm successful?

Does the video file type make any difference? In the logs you posted, I can only see one attempt to play a video file, but that was an AVI file. The MVP cannot natively play .AVI files, and has to do on-the-fly conversion to MPEG2, which is more complicated (more things that can go wrong) than playing a .MPG file.

Does playing a .mpg file work?

I started a post here:
http://forum.byopvr.com/dvr/index.php?to...icseen#new

I was discussing issues with getting back to a menu while watching video on the PC. I found that if I changed my renderer to "VMR9 Custom" the menus worked but going back to Live TV produced a blank screen. Pressing Back and then going to Live TV again produced video. So it continues to alternative, video, blank screen, video, blank screen. Every other time launching a new copy of nVidia Decoder in the system tray.

I installed CT-PVR last night and hit the same wall: video freezing. It does sound like a nVidia driver issue to me but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it further. Perhaps I need to regedit the entries to match somehow? If you tell me what I need to see in the logs I will work through nVidia support and web postings to make it happen.

When I got the video working downstairs on the PC I figured I'd have video no the MVP. Unfortunately this is not the case but I'm hopeful that once I get the drivers squared away both problems will be solved.

Can you give me any other pointers on what to do next?

Given the circumstances, I can wipe the partition and rebuild it again. I really don't think that will help though. It's a very clean install already.

I'll record an MPEG file and try that next. The AVI will play on the PC downstairs just not on the MVP.

In those logs I would expect to see "Checking if transcode required" after an AVI file Do you have this setting in your config.xml file

<MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg>true</MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg>

Also is M: a share.

I recorded a bit of golf in MPEG format. Reviewed it on the PC without incident. I rebooted the MVP to start clean found the video but it still showed a blank screen without sound. Pressing back rebooted the MVP.

It is set for true.

M: drive is a local IDE RAID-0 mirror. It made the rebuild of the PC last week the least stressful ever! Smile All data is stored there and then backed up to a USB HD later. I have three young boys and I don't trust Maxtor of WD to keep all the picture bits in place year after year.

The MVP uses two connections. One for displaying the menus and handling the remote etc, and the other for streaming media (requesting files, transfering video data etc). There no sign in your logs of any data ever being received from your streaming connection. Maybe a firewall getting in the way? I dont know really.

Cheese, thats sounds like you might have the Hauppauge media service enabled. GBPVR and Hauppage can't coexist so you must disable it

From another thread:

smiddy10 Wrote:The new version was taking for ever to load on the WMPV and when it finally would load I could not get live tv or recorded vidoes to work at all until I went into Windows Firewall/exceptions and added PVRX2.exe.

Worked instantly after that.
