Jerky Picture in 1.0.8

With past versions of GBPVR I have tried many times to get a stutter free picture using all of the different VMR options, but the only reliable picture I could get was using Overlay mode. My system is a P4 2.4 GHz with an AGP 6600 display card with 256 MB memory. I am using the Purevideo decoders. From everything I have read, this system should be powerful enough to use GBPVR in VMR9 mode. Typically when watching live TV in VMR9 mode, the system performance meter is only in the 40-50% range. I have also tried the Quartz.dll patch, but this did not seem to have any effect.

Now that the new GBPVR frontend will no longer support overlay mode, I am more determined than ever to get my system running correctly. Anyone have any other ideas? Is a P4 2.4 enough horsepower? Is the problem possibly the AGP interface? Or is the 6600 display inadequate?

Note: Should have noted before that I am running the display to an HDTV at approximately 1920 x 1080 resolution

I don't think that its an issue with not having enough horsepower, because I'm running a p4 with a fx5200 128mb graphics card and I have no problem with pvrx2.

There is approximately 1.5 GB memory in the system, so that is not the problem. The system was installed from scratch for use as a PVR, although that was a little over a year ago. I am running an oplder version of the Nvidia drivers - if I install newer versions it seems like the problem gets worse.

I'm running a 1.5 ghz system, 512 ram with a 5200 ultra 256 working fine for me

Is your fx5200 an AGP card? Also, are you running 1920 x 1080 resolution or something less? I am trying to get a friend to bring his LCD TV over to try running it at 1366 x 768 to see if this improves the stutter.

That is the resolution that I am running at - If I run it any lower, it only displays on part of the TV screen. In other words, lower resolution gives me a smaller screen display. I haven't actually tried running GBPVR at a lower resolution, but I will try it tonight.

Your TV should have an option to re-adjust the screen to fit the size.
I'd try looking in the TV menu for something like 'auto scale' then try running GBPVR at a lower resolution to see if that helps.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't seen that adjustment before on my TV but I will check it as soon as I get home. If running at a lower resolution solves the problem, then do you have any idea what the weakest link is in my system that would be causing the stuttering (display card, etc)?
