The background isnt the highest quality picture, and there is some minor banding in there. I dont think its that noticable, but it might bother some people.

You can always replace the background image with one of your own files.

just weird it looked fine on my laptop 1280x720 and lcd projector which is the same resolution and monitor in bedroom also lcd
but the crt tv 720x480 looked crap i tried different resolutions

im more thinking its the tv that is crap i got it about a year ago cause at the time lcd tvs were crap(refresh rate was still to low) and plasma tvs have never apealed to me

which pictures do i need to change for the background i had a bit of a play but ended up with some weird picture overlaying another

it does look a heap better on the projector though so good work sub

i had a play with the backgrounds
i dont think its the actual background that are the problem it the rendering of the background that is causing the problem

{EDIT}i just tried svideo and there is no colour steping so basically component is not all it meant to be form my nvidia card

but why only on component ?
has anyone else tried different out puts to see if it changes?

I'm using component output (480i) from my Nvidia 7600GS and I didn't notice anything bad about the background quality.
