Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me whether a client-mode function is available for GBPVR? What I mean by this is rather than serving data to a Media MVP (or similar) over an ethernet connection, can the GBPVR serve up media streams to a client running on another computer, say, a wireless laptop? If so, what software on the laptop would be necessary?

Thanks,
rjk

GB-PVR does not have a client mode. What you can do is install GB-PVR on the client machine and let it access files on the server by sharing out disk locations,

cheers,
Colin.

Thanks for the reply, Colin. When you refer to the client accessing files via sharing, is that any different than, say, Windows Media Player accessing shared files?

I'm not sure what modes WMP offers as I tend not to use this. What I mean is, if you share out the disk that your server uses to store its mpeg files, then your laptop could access these files via the network neighbourhood or by the client setting up a mountpoint of this disk. I'm not 100% sure how this is accomplished under windows as I am more familiar with a *nix environment. I'm sure the are a few windows heads about here you could shed some light on this for you,

Cheers,
Colin.
