Q1 so your tv only has 60 and 85 ?

so you only have 2 options really either 60 or 85

this is not ideal as its not a multiple of 25 but it will have to do
i cant beleive they even make the tvs like that its just stupid

the only other thing that i know will have a chance of working is downgrading to an analog signal it doesnt suffer as much from this sort of problem

The lcd manual says this for my resolution of 1024x768

suported refresh rate = 60hz, 70hz, 75hz, 80hz, 85hz.

so if I set the pc display at 75hz that will be the optium for pal?, I guess my LCD will automaticaly detect the refresh rate setting because there is no option in the lcd menus to adjust the refresh rate.

Do you agree?

Thanks

Pete

PS just tried intervideo and its worse

yes intervideo has been bad in my experience probably the worst of all

ok i just set my projector up and had a play
yes i reckon 75 would be best before you quickly switch back after it looking bad just try a few things

1 try restarting with it set to that (dont have to do this first but before you give up)
2 set your signal to a progressive one ie 720p or 1080p (video card setting)
3 try changing the vmr settings
4 you could also try changing the deinterlace mode

i must say mine still isnt perfect but better than 99% of more expensive setups i have seen

You might also want to check that you have the very latest forceware drivers and the most recent copy of purevideo.

if you read the thread I linked to above, Csy said:-

The patch will enable DXVA+VMR and set de-interlacing to VMR Default on all Purevideo decoder versions. This results in enabling hardware de-interlacing which will provide the best picture quality available on your system. This patch has nothing to do with with video card brand or drivers, and doesn't care.

Now on the subject of Forceware drivers (totally different subject to the Purevideo registry patch), many video enhancements have occured in recent Forceware drivers, therefore the latest Forceware drivers (in combination with the latest purevideo decoder) will provide the best available picture quality providing the Forceware driver doesn't clash with your hardware (which ShiningDragon suggests does happen with certain hardware combinations).

For those who have problems upgrading to the latest nvidia drivers, you need to run some kind of driver cleaner after you un-install the present drivers.

I still have the last free version of driver cleaner & I have had no problems upgrading PCI or AGP nvidia cards if I use it before upgrading.

My personal favorite (even over PureVideo) is DScaler5.
http://www.dscaler.org (Do NOT use DScaler4, it's not a DirectShow filter).

Download from here:
http://www.dscaler.org/phpBB/viewtopic.p...dde972ee92

The forum is never updated and development seems to have come to a halt, but playback is ALWAYS silky smooth for me.

Hi gEd I tried the patch and I have to say it was alot better, but I was still experiencing some camera pan blur, but alot less than before, I was very happy with the results.
Then I noticed the post from j3flight and thought I would give it a go. I have to say dscaler5 gives even better results, brilliant, it still gives slight blur now and then but you can hardly notice at all.

Thanks everyone for the posts

Pete

I was just about to suggest trying dscaler5 as stustunz just mentioned how good it was on a post further up.

glad you have got it working to your liking.

it wasnt me Ged it was the other guyBig Grin
but i thought i would try it
its funny what works for one system doesnt work for another
on mine dscaler was jerky (on low horse power laptop I didnt try it on main system dont like adding things when it ant broke)

that said the dscaler looks like it has a few things to tweak so it has potential so would be a good choice when trying to match things up

but im glad you got it working better petewxm
