I know there is technically no support for this card yet, but I've been playing around with it. I was curious if anyone else had yet.

I have the analog side working. I made a new entry in the direct.ini file. The entry is identical to the HVR-1600 entry, except I named it HVR-1800. It also works if I set the direct recording plugin to Conexant Blackbird.

I can't get the digital side to work. I tried making a new entry into the bda.ini file, which is a copy of the HVR-1600 entry, but it didn't work. However, GBPVR detects the digital side as a Hauppauge OEM 885. If I set it to this, GBPVR doesn't complain. GBPVR even allows me to scan for digital channels. I still do not pick up any channels though.

what is the difference between the two? [1600/1800]

try double-checking the filter info with graphEdit..probably just some small naming difference..
you don't even need to build a working graph, just check the filter names by adding to blank graph....[spelling,capitalization also, they must be eXaCT]

The only difference I am aware of is the HVR-1600 is PCI and the HVR-1800 is PCIe.

I'll keep working on it. Thanks.

Your comments about the 885 let me to look deeper because my HVR 1600 uses a "418" capture device. Based on the INF files it looks like the 1600 is based on the Conexant CX23418 and the 1800 is based on the Conexant CX23885 and they do use different BDA.INF files.

I checked with graphedit. I'm not an expert with graphedit, but it looks like you are correct.
Under BDA Receiver Components it lists "Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture."
Under BDA Source Filters it lists "Hauppauge WinTV 885 BDA Tuner/Demod."

I can't tune any digital sources under WinTV. I sent in a request to support at Hauppauge. This card is supposed to tune Clear QAM, but I can't get anything. My Dvico Fusion does pick up the channels, so I know they are there. Maybe Hauppauge can help out here.

Have you been able to get it working? I am having the same problems and not getting it working with WINTV or GB-PVR 1.08. No QAM found. Actually not registering any channels with GB-PVR

I still can only tune the analog channels in WinTV or GBPVR. I cannot record/capture anything in GBPVR, analog or digital. I cannot get the QAM channels to show up. I've been talking to Hauppauge and they are still trying to confirm my install was correct. I followed their directions, but...

The one thing that does bug me about the analog side is the deinterlacing is horrible in GBPVR. I use the Nvidia decoder as my default. When I use my ATI tuner card, I can see the Nvidia decoder running and things look great. But, when the HVR-1800 is being used in GBPVR, the Nvidia decoder does not get called and the picture looks pretty bad.

Below is what I've been playing with in my direct.ini and bda.ini. Maybe you can see some things I might be missing.

One thing on the analog side I noticed through graphedit was an output for VBI for the Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture. The other ones are "Capture" "Audio Out" and "656". I see these in other Hauppauge setups in direct.ini, but no VBI. I don't know if that is important or not.

I worked on this same issue for Days, got help from this Forum and still nothing. No one knows much about the card and Hauppauge has not been any help except to tell me to RMA it and have it looked at. I shipped mine back yesterday.

dgwest, I know this should be obvious, (and you probably did this) but did you try the cable on both connectors? QAM can only be tuned with the connector normally used for an OTA antenna (ATSC), not the one marked cable (NTSC analog).
