keyboard remote

Hi all, i have GBPVR working but am having issues using the keyboard attached to the machine as a controller, nothing happens for me. I think it has to do with the fact i have the machine (windows 2003) passworded for RDP access so the software never starts up unless i RDP in and start it thus the keyboard is connected to a crtl.alt.delete screen. I have tried installing gbpvr as a service in hopes it would start in the background so no log in would be needed, this worked but the exe is stuck as soon as it starts and i cant move around the menu with the keyboard or pvr remote (which works). I'm sure i'm over thinking this......

Sorry, I cant really help you with this one. I only really test it run from a regular (interactive) Windows session. I'm not sure what issues you might encounter trying to run it that way.

So are most ppl using it in interactive mode? I thought this was suppsoed to be simular to Myth where you could drop the box off anywhere and let it run.

Alot of people do hide the PC off in a closet somewhere, but its still setup to boot up and automatically login and start GB-PVR. Video card and sound card connected to tv/stereo, sometimes they have a keyboard but usually just a remote. Thats what I do. If I need to do maintenance, I VNC in and do the job from my desktop PC.

Maybe i'll install VNC server and see how it goes......still would think theres a way to config start up to work as is. So once its botting into desktop, i should be able to use k/b to move around on TV yes?

In case anyone else is using windows 2003 which forces you to log on, or at least hit enter run:

control userpasswords2

and un check the option to prompt for log in.

I have mine setup to auto login using


control userpasswords2

and I often rdp in to my machine remotely but I am running it on xp pro

for windows 2003 should also work but you could also try the following reg edit
