Does that mean I'm screwed (again!) then? I didn't find anything channels on a whole satellite either, and this device on this transponder picks up all the channels with 2 other (vastly inferior of course) DVB softwares.

I notice now that all the other PCTVs in the BDA configuration file are DVB-T models (and one ATSC), so I guess they might have significantly different drivers? I wonder if anyone is running a Pinnacle DVB-S card with GBPVR?

Thanks anyway,

Well, I've just discovered that this is purely a channel search problem; I changed the tuner configuration for one set of channels that had been set up using a Twinhan PCI card, so that it can now play those channels using the PCTV 400e (strangely, when changing the tuner it now recognizes the 400e as being an available tuner, but the channel search still doesn't work).

Does this suggest anything at all, and if not, is there any way of loading channels into the configuration without doing a channel search? (The computer I was hoping to use the Pinnacle on does not have an internal DVB-S card available, unlike the one I'm testing it on at the moment).

Thanks once more,

No, not really.

Assuming you're not using the DVB-EPG option, then you could copy the *.cache files from the BDA directory of a working machine to the target machine. When you go to the 'map digital channels to epg channels' screen it should just use this cache file instead of doing a new scan.

OK, thanks; I'll give that a go and find another way to get the EPG.

Alternatively try copying the GBPVR.db3 database file from the machine with working capture source.

If I copy the whole database then presumably I get all the channels from the original machine; which uses a Twinhan card which does Diseqc, and the Pinnacle doesn't I gather.

So I would think copying the cache is probably best in my case; is there a way of telling which scan is which though ( I have about twenty), as the file doesn't open on demand? Or should I just do a new scan/s for all the channels I want and use the newly created cache files?

Ta,

Correct you'd get all the channels etc. There is nothing to stop you from going in and editing the capture source settings to change the card type or set the diseqc to 'none'.

Right, I didn't think of that- I could just edit the copied settings so that all of the channel groups I didn't want were deleted, and all the ones I did were set to use the Pinnacle- without diseqc- and the new database tailored to the new machine would thereby be created.

Excellent; thanks one last time for all the speedy responses and advice,

Frazer
