Trying to launch a external program from gbpvr

First off I may have posted this in the wrong place. Sorry if that’s the case!

A friend of mine found a rather interesting Jukebox program. It runs great but when I try to put a button to it in gbpvr I get a error message saying “cannot find the pointer file jbdefptr.ptr” I get the same error message when I try to assign a button to it on my remote. I’m assuming that I need to add a “argument” but I’m unsure of what it should be. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

The program is called Wincab Jukebox here’s a link to the website http://webpages.charter.net/celamantia/jukebox/ . I would post a note in there forum but it looks as though its not really used and the software creator hasn’t done anything with the program or the site since January.

Sorry, I cant answer that one for you. I've never used that app.

This isnt an error message generated by GB-PVR, but rather by the app itself. I'm guessing maybe the current directory is not correct so jukebox.exe (or whatever it's called) is run, it cant find the 'jbdefptr.ptr' file it expects in the current directory.

It’s very strange because when I launch the program from the .exe its fine and when I launch it from a shortcut on the desktop it’s also fine. I’m going to see about dropping the programs creator an email.

Look at the properties for the shortcut and make sure there isn't an argument that you need to include.

put the program files inside the gbpvr folder and launch from them

yea, when running those, it runs them from the gbpvr\ dir, so even if the program is in gbpvr\third party\ it will be called from the gbpvr dir...

like sitting in gbpvr\ and running "\third party\somefile.exe"
current directory is still gbpvr even tho running gbpvr\third party\somefile.exe...

yes, gbpvr runs things from \gbpvr

This is the intended behaviour. The "gbpvr" directory is the current directory where GB-PVR is running. If an external app needs a specific path, then the user can run a batch file that sets the current directory, then start the external app.

Sorry life got a little crazy for a few days there. I just dumped the files into the gbpvr folder like stustunz suggested and it worked. Thanks for your responces guys!

By chance did any of you guys look at the program? Its a pretty cool Jukebox program.

yeah its not bad it would be a cool thing to set up if you had an old pc laying around and atouch screen monitor
only improvement would be cool if the song list turned like a page instead of sliding
