Have you read the documentation on the wiki? http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Quick...QuickStart

create a capture source. set the recording source to the 'direct recording source. click the 'settings' button. set the device to 'ATI 650'. set the epg source to 'zap2it'. go to http://labs.zap2it.com and create an account. enter that account username/password in the epg settings page. click 'update epg'. 'ok' out of the config app. Start PVRX2 and click live tv.

GB-PVR requires all this setup because its all about recording tv, rather than just 'watching tv' as you were looking for. All this requires a proper EPG to be setup, requiring these few extra steps.

If you're not interested in recording and just want to watch tv, you might be better off using the software that came with your capture device.

Try ChrisTV lite from http://www.chris-tv.com/download.html. This free version of ChrisTV just does simple tv viewing.

hey,
i got gbpvr setup properly and the live tv is of better quality than the other program. but the only issue now is, everything i watch gets automatically recorded to c:/ and i dont want everything recorded... so i was wondering where do i turn that off?

Its not recording, its used as a buffer. To stop this, tick "Enable live preview mode" (or similar) in the config app.
