Plain enough, how does this work?

There are a few of us that have an issue where the nforce hardware and/or drivers kick off the irremote app, leaving it unable to restart.

My impression was the the direct access would not require the irremote program? Is this true, or am I misundertstanding altogether?

If that's the not the case, I may try a SB USB sound device (the hookup to the sony receiver will be nice) and disable the nvidia MB hardware altogether.

The Hauppauge IR.exe application is responsible for receiving keystrokes from the IR hardware's drivers and send keystrokes to application using the rules set down in the irremote.ini file.

When you run in direct access mode, GB-PVR replaces IR.exe, and reads directly from the IR hardware's driver's itself. It is still dependent on the drivers.

Also, this mode only works for the PVR250/350/USB2. Hauppauge changed the driver interface for the new IR hardware on the PVR150, making it incompatible with this method.

This answers my question then.

Ahhh....got it. I got the impression the 150 somehow joined the fold in .9...I see now why not.

Great advances in new version. I love how much better the remote works (when it does). Here's hoping the Audigy external does the trick.
