TomH Wrote:zehd -- thanks for making me aware of this new (to me) tool

I unpacked into /gbpvr/
Ran ZSchedFix.exe
Got following error message
_ Runtime error "5":
_ Invalid procedure call or argument

ZSchedFix.log
----------
***Debug - FileSpec: C:\WINDOWS\SQLite3VB.dll : False

***Debug - FileSpec: C:\WINDOWS\SQLite3VB.dll : True

EDIT:
Subsequently found and installed the ZToolsSupportSoftware and the VB6 package -- same result when running ZSchedfix.exe

EDIT #2
Found the thread for ZSchedFix -- found the 1.0.23 version
Unpacked and the OLD ZScedFix started up with no errors (I did not click the "Purge and Rebuild" however )

Then reverted to the newer version and NO GO (same Runtime error '5' )

Can you deduce from all this what I have either not done or done incorrectly?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
TomH

File not found means just that. It was good that you downloaded the other software and support files. I would have asked you to do that.

It's a simple software, so it should be easy for me to find what's it's looking for and fix it. Sorry. Hang on for a couple of hours and I'll have it.

May I suggest that you don't search for older versions of a software though. ZSchedFix was quite rough in its early days, and quite troublesome.

But in general it always better to work on the current version and get it fixed...

Hang tight

you mention that exporting re-occuring schedules was built in in 1.0.8?
i can't find any info on it...
but then i can't find much info on much of the new stuff in 1.0.8 either..
changelog is short, and nothing on the release pages about any of the new features..
can you specify a remote system's db with your tool?
i want to import recordings from another machine's database..
[and schedules wouldn't be bad either..Smile]
thanx

also, it does same for me as TomH...same error

I use the feature that's built into GB-PVR for export and importing... that means that when the schedule is exported it goes into a file called recording-dump.xml in the GB-PVR folder... Later, import calls that file.

No remote system, db or anything like that.

In the patch included, I've added more logging to trace the file that seems to be missing.

Also, when you export, I also make a timestamped backup of the recording-dump.xml just in case.

If you ever wanted to import one of the timestamped files, just rename the file to remove the time stamp...

eg.. 2007-08-12--12-10-recording-dump.xml >> recording-dump.xml

Let me know how this goes, and I will update the wiki

Getting same result (Runtime error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument)
log says
------------
***Debug - FileSpec: C:\WINDOWS\SQLite3VB.dll : True
8/12/2007 3:54:21 PM : GB-PVR directory is: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\
8/12/2007 3:54:26 PM : Exporting Recording Schedule from GB-PVR
------------
Well you've gained on it -- it's no longer reporting 'File not found', nor is it reporting the RTE '5'

K. Try this next one. I've added line numbering but there's really only a couple of places it could be going wrong...

Manually check for these files...

C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe

and

{your App path} \GetData.bat

I've also added a check to log where your app is... It should run anywhere, but I know that it works from the Third Party\ZTools folder...

K2,
Manually (and visually) checked via
>run C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe
>run C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\GetData.bat
Both of the above progs were triggered.

Running C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\ZTools\ZSchedFix.exe by clicking the "Export Recordings" button is producing same "Runtime error '5': Inc\valid procedure call or arguement"

The ZschedFix.log says
-----
***Debug - FileSpec: C:\WINDOWS\SQLite3VB.dll : True
8/13/2007 6:31:22 AM : GB-PVR directory is: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\

8/13/2007 6:31:24 AM : App.path is: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\ZTools
-----

Again same as most recent .log result

Thanks for your patience,

Are you kidding... thanks for YOUR patience...

Try this last patch. I think that your system is just a tad slow on creating a batch file, and I'm trying to shell something thats not there yet.

Added for more logging and some wait code...

If you mean waiting for the GetData.bat -- there's already one in the dir - wouldn't that one get picked up to shell out?

Anyway, interesting 'almost', not quite the same error. Now errmsg says only
"5: Invalid procedure call or argument" (n.b the prefix "Run time error" of previous errmsgs is missing.

Here's the log...
----------------
8/13/2007 12:55:23 PM : ZSchedFix starts...
8/13/2007 12:55:23 PM : ***Debug - FileSpec: C:\WINDOWS\SQLite3VB.dll : True

8/13/2007 12:55:40 PM : Exporting Recording Schedule from GB-PVR
8/13/2007 12:55:40 PM : Batch written, shelling it...
----------

BTW, the GetData.bat file, timestampted newly every time ZSchedFix.exe is run, sontains the following line...
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe" -export
...just so you know it's there.

Hmmm... does it matter (for this testing) that various GBPVR progs are running?
Hmmm2... you're calling gbpvr.exe in the .bat -- does the fact the I've got 1.0.8 installed which uses the PVRX2.exe GUI instead might cause anything untoward?

Thanks a lot,

I'm using gbpvr.exe for compatibility reasons, though since this version of ZSchedFix is best used with 1.08 and up, I suppose I could change it. It won't be the problem though.

I couldn't tell if you had the error though. (edit: missed it, read it now) You didn't mention it. The logs show uninterrupted testing, clicking the Export button a couple of times... Maybe try opening the prg, clicking Export and then closing, each test...

The actual Shell statement, is failing, and I can't get a Log file hook into it, but I did make a msgbox. Are you getting the "batch not available message"?

I will be adding a drastic step to temp halt the program between creating the batch file and calling it with a "do you want to continue" messagebox. That will give the prg tonnes of time. I just want to see this work. There is no reason why a shell shouldn't work, unless you have security preventing the shell statement from running=

Stay tuned. About 8 hours

Edit: Damn I've been trapping error 53, file not found, and it's error 5. OK. hang on till later

Try this latest patch...

It should map the exact moment when your computer decides it doesn't want to shell a batch file..

I phrase it like that, 'cuz I tried it on every computer I could get my hands on.

(I tried only the Export button). The batch file is deleted, and recreated then shelled.

On all the computers, even those without GB-PVR, the export button worked. The shell itself may fail if there isn't GB-PVR on the computer or the path is wrong. But at least the batch file runs...

I think it might be security that's saying, wait a minute' ZSchedFix' You don't have permission to shell programs...
