I think I've seen this asked before but I can't find the thread.

Is there an easy way to take just the sound from a DVD and save it as MP3 files?

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks - I'll take a look at it. I've just been using GraphEdit to do a few bits this afternoon but it's pretty fiddley. Hopefully this'll make things a bit easier.

Cheers,
Brian

tipstir: Glad you enjoyed your holiday... that looks like a neat bit of software...

Don't suppose you know of anything which I could use to trim MPEGs with the minimum of recoding - that is leave them as close to the original as possible?

Videoredo would be the best for that, shame it's not freeware.
You can find it here plus some freeware ones too. You'll have to try out, they will have improved over time.

Afaik videoredo is one of the very few to produce mpg's without timestamp problems. What are those technical issues you are talking about tipstir?

Thanks for that. Looks like that might just be the project for next week... Big Grin

tipstir:
Quote:I like to take out the music videos I want to watch and give them names. Then play them back in the Music Videos folder on the MVP.
That's exactly what I want to do...

Thanks to both you guys - lots of interesting looking links - absolute goldmine in fact Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Yes I've used that one, I think you have to demux the mpg first, into dv2 and mpa. I think it works ok though.

Quote:Good when you have a party you can broadcast to the MVP set play-all continously then show it on LCD Projector and pump the audio through amp PA system or DD system.
Actually I'd be quite happy to watch my music videos on the 14" TV in the kitchen - but I really can see the possibilities

I'm really looking for minimum recoding - nerovision does it great - only problems is the output freezes and is jerky.

Never found the time to check out instant messaging so I'm not a user. Should I be?
I guess I'll look at all the stuff you and HtV have suggested and if I find something I'll start using it and move on to some other 'problem' - otherwise I'll keep looking.
I listen to a lot of music but sometimes it's more interesting to watch the video too..

Sorry I mixed up things: Mpeg2cut2 might be ok, it's easy to use I think, I got it mixed up with cuttermaran. This one needed demuxed mpg, but it worked well afaik. Though not very intuitive.
Good luck with your questWink
