I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.

Recording service crashing
NOD32, Panda Antivirus, WebRunner and Net Limiter (and some other software) are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they may need to be uninstalled before installing this update. Its possible you may just be able to set an exclusion of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe process - but I'm not sure if this is possible with all these apps.

To help you identify if you have this problem, when the recording service crashes, the following message is at the end of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file:

Code:
9/4/2006 3:02:39 PM.625 ERROR [7] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: [b]System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory[/b]. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
at System.Net.UnsafeNclNativeMethods.OSSOCK.WSAGetOverlappedResult(SafeCloseSocket socketHandle, IntPtr overlapped, UInt32& bytesTransferred, Boolean wait, IntPtr ignored)
at [b]System.Net.Sockets.BaseOverlappedAsyncResult[/b].Compl etionPortCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* nativeOverlapped)
at System.Threading._IOCompletionCallback.PerformIOCo mpletionCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* pOVERLAP)

UPDATE: Microsoft now has a hot fix available for this common incompatibility between firewall software and the .NET 2.0 Remoting. You can read about here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028/en-us and download the hotfix from http://www.gbpvr.com/Hotfix_Net2_KB923028.zip

Choice of MVP dongle.bin on Vista
This release includes the Hauppauge 1.1.47 dongle.bin, which will work well for Windows XP and Windows 2000 users, but unfortunately has issues with Vista. Hauppauge are currently investigating these issues. While Hauppauge tries to sort this out, the best option for Vista users is to use the mvpmc dongle from: http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/donglex2a.zip

Download this file and extract the file to the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\dongle" directory, then briefly remove the power from the MVP to force it to reinitialise itself.

Waking from standby/hibernate when using -FSE mode
Unfortunately I forgot to include a file in the release that made a smoother restart after standby/hibernate when using -fse mode. You can get that file from here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=4

'No signal' popup appearing on first viewing of digital tv channel
Some users had a problem where the 'no signal' popup would appear the first time they tried to view a channel on a digital capture source. A fix for this can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=7

This also fixed a problem where the OSD info popup all by itself for a couple of seconds when the show was ticking over to the next show.

Machine not waking for recordings or EPG update
Several users have reported problems with their machine not waking for recordings or the EPG update under v1.0.16. This is resolved by this patch: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=18

Schedules Direct patch required
There was a couple of minor changes to the pending Schedules Direct service after v1.0.16 was release. To use this service with v1.0.16, you need to install the attached patch.

Multiple lineups with Schedules Direct
For those that have multiple lineups, there is one trick your need to be aware of. When setting up the capture source, in the email field you can do the following to get it to use the channels from only one lineup:

blah@somewhere.com;DISH501:-

This is a semi-colon followed by the lineup code. This lineup code can be seen on the SchedulesDirect website (shown in the URL when you click the 'edit' button on a lineup).

This having to enter the semi-colon + lineup code is bit complex so I'll eventually add some drop down box that shows the list of available lineups downloaded from the user's account, but unfortunately I'm running a bit short on time so cant do this at the moment.

No picture during video playback with older nvidia card
Several users name reported lack of video in PVRX2 with their older nvidia cards like GeForce2/GeForce4 cards (MX440 etc). This was resolved by updating the nvidia drivers, specifically: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=30. You can more dicussion about it in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28694

An important change to the SchedulesDirect service
Up until a couple of days ago, Schedules Direct users were identified by a combination of email address and password, which are the fields collected in GB-PVR's Schedules Direct epg plugin. Under this old scheme the user's email address was their username. The Schedules Direct guys have now changed this and there is a separate username field.... so, just to confuse things you now need to enter your username in the field that's labeled 'email address'.

Users that created their SD accounts before this change will have a username that matches their email address.

I've updated the screen in the next release to say 'username' instead of 'email address'.

(yes, you can still add the semi-colon plus lineup code as described above)
