That is the M780 with a MCE remote. You can also get it white box.

I had the HVR-1800 in my system for a while, but I could never get it to tune anything on the digital side of the card. The analog side worked fine. I'm doing a RMA for my HVR-1800. You might have better luck with it than me if you go that route.

Another option is the ATI PCIe Combo. It will be retail in a couple weeks. It's supposed to do ClearQAM. I did find these as refurbished replacement parts for Dell XPS systems here http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productd...sisid=8242

So you didn't have any problems getting the M780 installed and using GBPVR with it? With the problems mk000 is having getting his to work, I'm now kinda of hesitant purchasing it.

I disabled the Aver Quick startup, and restarted, didnt open anything except GBPVR config.exe and scanned again... no luck... attached is a screenshot of my taskmanager's open handles.

If you look into the device manager, how many devices are there for the M780? Three? Try disabling the bridge and then re-enable, don't reboot or run any Aver programs. Go the GBPVR Config, make sure you have the device set to the standard M780 entry and then scan (it will only scan to 68 or 69.) In your previous scans did you get anything or do you get a list of channel frequencies with no picture in the preview box?

It did take some time to figure out how the card tunes QAM but mk000 is looking at tuning OTA ATSC, which is standard and doesn't require the extra steps that I took for QAM. The analog side worked with the standard configuration right away.

I did not have the same kind of problem that mk000 is having. It looks like something is either locking up the card or the OS is losing track of its resources. It also looks like mk000 is running Vista (mk000 is that correct?) I run XP Pro, so that could have something to do with it.

I got the M780 because I wanted a pci-e card with a hardware mpeg encoder for the analog tuner and digital QAM. If you don't need pci-e, I would go with a PCI card. I had the HVR-1800 and I could not tune OTA ATSC or QAM with it. I also have the DVICO HDTV5 Express, which I can get to tune QAM in GBPVR, but I could not get the analog side to work with the software plug-in. So, if you need pci-e, then the M780 is a good choice. Or, you could wait for the ATI Combo pci-e next month and you might be able to create a configuration for it that will work in GBPVR.

Did you already make the changes to the bda.ini and qam.ini files in this thread? You need to create a new entry in bda.ini for M780 QAM tuning then create a new capture/recording source for the M780 using the new bda.ini entry through the config program. The changes I made to the qam.ini file were just because my some of my cable channels are at 131 and 132. The frequencies for those channels in the original qam.ini did not match the frquencies the AverTV program found them at.

The analog worked flawless, digital OTA never catches anything, it does not list any channels or anything, it aklways reports no channels found. I did add some dummy channels to the EPG and have the EPG set to none... (that was what Sub and I talked about earlier in this thread).

SSlusser, are you in the US and if so, can you revieve ATSC OTA Channels with your M780?

If you are running Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, it may be the Windows Media Center Receiver service that has a hold on it. You may have to disable that service.

Yes, in am in the US. Honestly, I have never tried to get ATSC OTA. My system is in my basement and the not even the tuner on my HDTV can get a strong enough ATSC signal.
