Hi everybody,

I am new to the GBPVR program and still struggling with setup issues. I have searched the forum without success.
I have a PVR-150 (not the MCE model). It comes with an IR receiver and IR blaster that plug into the PVR-150 (one wire for both). I have the Hauppauge 45 buttons remote.
Can you configure HIP to use this remote ? If so how ?
I have the remote working with GBPVR directly (without HIP), but I would prefer to use HIP, because it is more flexible and can allow me to control other stuff on the computer. I tried downloading the Hauppauge configuration files for HIP from the Wiki about remote controls, but it doesn't work. HIP doesn't respond to the remote. What am I doing wrong ?

I hope you might help. Thanks.

hmmm, not sure if that can use Hip...
the normal program ir32.exe can do most everything HIP can...
what special features are you wanting from hip?
IR can control other programs too, if that's all...
check out the irremote.ini stuff...almost anything's possible..
can be used out of focus, has auto changing key maps based on what is in focus, and global keys..
somewhere there's a doc on all the many features..
it also does MCE remotes too, now...Big Grin

Thanks for the reply.

If IR32 does all that HIP does, how can I get rid of the remote control utility that sits in the tray (the remote control icon) that only fires up the WinTV or WinTV2000 utilities from Hauppauge ? and where can I find documentation on the irremote.ini file ?

Thanks.

that IS the program..Smile but that's all you need...
pretty sure you can't get rid of the icon tho..
in windows dir there's the irremote.ini....lots is explained in there...
Quote:MenuLoad=N, where N =
1 -- (Default) Allows the system tray icon to show a pop-up menu with a
list of available Hauppauge applications when you right click on
that icon.
or 0 -- The Hauppauge applications will not be listed. The pop-up menu
will only contain options to close the menu or exit ir.exe.

search the forums for info on irremote.ini and also check the wiki...
i only needed the docs to do some really advanced stuff...

I have had pretty good success with EventGhost, which you can get your remote to learn if there is no existing file. Search the forum for Eventghost, a fellow posted his config for the remote WITH MCE, perhaps you can modify that. I just did mine using my MVP remote (45 Button Hauppauge, like the MCE one).
