SRT Config

Hi Sub,

I just setup mpg2srt to get closed captions out of my recordings and create an srt file using postprocessing.bat. I finally got a show with closed captions and extracted the text for the closed captions. I checked the srt file and the text is in there. I enabled the SRT Viewer in the config app, but I still don't see the "sub titles" when I hit the yellow button on my MVP remote. Is there something else I have to do to get GBPVR to display my "sub titles". I haven't seen where to tell GBPVR where the srt files are located, so I thought I was missing something.

After running mpg2srt in postprocessing, my srt files end up in the same directory as the recording and GB-PVR displays them.

That might be the issue. I've got all of my srt files going to a common directory outside of the gbpvr directory. This is the call I have in my postprocessing.bat for mpg2srt:

mpg2srt %1 /dc:\subtitles

Is there a variable (like %1) that I could use to have the srt file saved to the same directory as the mpg file?

um, I think there is something that takes the input filename just without the extension, then you can just save it as that. not sure about the directory.

I think I use mpg2srt %1
Try that and see. If that doesn't work I'll check my postprocessing.bat when I get home later tonight.

Have you seen the roll-up problem? Is so and you want to fix the way it is shown you can do so by doing the following:
1. Open C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\blue\OSD\skin.xml with notepad
2. Change <Placement name="SRTSubtites" loc="0,75"/> to <Placement name="SRTSubtites" loc="20,75"/> or any horizontal starting point preferred.
3. Change <CompositeImage name="SRTSubtites" size="90,20">
<DrawTextWithOutline text="@line1" loc="0,0" size="100,33" outlineWidth="2" borderColor="Black" textStyle="OsdTextVeryLargeStyle" align="Center" valign="Center"/>
<DrawTextWithOutline text="@line2" loc="0,33" size="100,33" outlineWidth="2" borderColor="Black" textStyle="OsdTextVeryLargeStyle" align="Center" valign="Center"/>
<DrawTextWithOutline text="@line3" loc="0,66" size="100,33" outlineWidth="2" borderColor="Black" textStyle="OsdTextVeryLargeStyle" align="Center" valign="Center"/>
</CompositeImage>
to align="Left"
4. Save skin.xml
5. Restart config
6. Restart PVRX2
7. Voila, closed caption roll-up to srt by mpg2srt will now be normal looking.

It would be nice to have that in the wiki also.

And although I swear I'm the only one with the problem, I see the captions slip in time with the source the further in I go in playback, but no one else seems to report this. There is a fix if someone else sees this.
