The TV Guide search option is missing from the menu of PVRx2. I heard that the new interface might be missing a few components but could not find any related info in the Survival Guide. I ran the Changedatabase as well. Do I need to use GBPVR.EXE to search the guide ?

What does easy view do ? All I see is a black screen. Does this need to be config'd somewhere?

As I understand it, Easyview is a limited version that can be set up so that children and those who get confused over too many options can use the remote control. You get a blank screen because you haven't set it up yet. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=easy+view for more details.

With respect to the search feature, in the new version, you press search guide twice on your remote control. The first time you get the TV guide, the second time you get the search menu. However, there is a changedatabase.exe file that you have to execute to be able to access the shows once you have found them. Before doing that, read this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=29036 (or at least click on the copy the existing database over button when executing that program)

I don't use a remote control, just a keyboard and mouse combo. So is the search option not going to be available from the desktop interface ?

If you hit F1 (I think F1 is guide) then you should get the same functionality as hitting the guide button on a remote

You are correct. Double F1 brings up the search.

It was nicer to have the option listed on the main menu and I do have the option selected on the plug-ins in the configuration so why no menu display ? I hope this will be added to the menu in an upcoming release otherwise it's a step backwards in the user friendly department.

So is GBPVR being transitioned out and replaced with PVRx2 ?

Yes.

I also wish it would come back, confused my family at first and we use a remote.

Another option is to try Searchwiz which has been updated for the latest version 1.016 of gbpvr. I hae just installed it (I nned to reboot the computer to get it to show up on the main pvrx2 main menu) and I had a few errors that I didn't understand that seem to have corrected themselves, but it looks like it will be very useful. For example, you can create category "filters", like all movies, or all comedy or even all shows rated for children and then by entering no criteria, you can scroll all available shows in that category and then record them.
