I'm finding the font sizes in PVRX2 to be a little small on my 36" television, and there's no way my parents would be able to use PVRX2 as is on their 27" television; GBPVR.exe works fine.

Is there any way to make PVRX2 use bigger fonts? Is it possible to do by screen - i.e., just for the TVGuide?

Thanks.

PS - I waited for the search function to come back before posting this, but I couldn't find anything at all about this.

You can create your own skin that uses any font size you like. Others may have already done this - I'm not sure though.

Sorry, I know thats probably not the straight forward answer you hoped for.

since this is a complete rewrite if the user interface, i'd love to see at least a small skinning guide. I've gone back to my old 99.12 just until i figure out how to skin for my wife who has vision problems. Is something like that possible or is it out already and i missed it?

There are some skins here for the MVP... but there is a bit of info in this thread where you might be able to adapt them.
Dedicated HTPC: MSI K7N420 Pro, AMD 2200+, 1.5GB RAM, PVR150, 550Pro, ATI 9800XT, 300GB Maxtor HD, Diamond XTreme DDL Sound, MVP over wireless bridge, GBPVR 1.2.13

I havnt got time to write a guide for you, but its pretty straight forward once you look at it. If you have specific questions then I'm happy to try and answer them.

Sure, you say pretty straight forward, you wrote it. Smile I'm looking at all the examples i can find so i must have mental block somewhere since I'm not finding it near as intuitive as the old one. Maybe you really can't teach an old dog new tricks Smile

Start with a copy the 'blue' directory to a skin name of your choosing, then edit the baseskin.xml and some other .xml files to change the size of the text styles.

ie, in baseskin.xml:

Code:
<TextStyle name="DefaultTextStyle" typeFace="Arial" [b]size="12"[/b] style="bold"/>

You may find if you make some things too big that you have to adjust the size of other stuff also. For example, if your text is too big for your buttons, then you'll need bigger buttons, but I'm not going to attempt to get in to describing all the changes you'd need to make.

I agree & I did look at writing one while I made my new skin BUT with trying to learn on the fly & making heaps of mistakes along the way it just wasn't practical to write a guide at the same time.

I have made a skin that I call Blue-SHV (super high visibility) for my old eyes on our 29" tv & for the wife for the 14" tv in the bedroom. While it has been setup for the MVP's it is also OK on the PC. it isn't finished (I haven't done the filmstrip & all the icon views as we don't use them) but is quite usable as stands. If you would like to give it a I will upload it for you.
If someone can tell me how & where I should upload it to that is :o

I will post some screen shots if I can figure out how??

Is there an easy way that if you make a small change you can get the screen to update with the changes quickly? I'm looking at the MVP as I make changes and I have to restart the recording service after each change. Is this the correct way or is there a better way?

I also found just turning off the MVP and turning it back on works too.
